There have been many discussions on the topic of TPMS. I would like to lay my scenario out as it relates to my 06 M45s and if anyone has any thoughts from experience please offer it up.

I noticed that I was not getting a reading (**) on one of my wheels and then soon after that the TPMS light came on as well as a second wheel stopped displaying (**). Since my other vehicle is a Nissan I took it to the Nissan dealer (they are always nicer) to address. I assumed that 2 of the sensors batteries died. They talked me into aftermarket sensors so I went ahead and replaced all four. They programed them and I was off.

After a few days I noticed that TPMS light was gone but the display indicated only pressure for one wheel. Weeks later the same and then the one displaying went to **. I have taken it back and they have reprogrammed the vehicle and say that from their programer side car sees the sensors and should be fine as well as the display.

They are now telling me that the issue is with the display control module or something like that.. That does not make sense to me.

I was going to push them to put OEM sensors. Should I? Our just take it to the Infiniti dealer versus Nissan as they have more experience with the 06-07 M45? Looking for thoughts...

how much did they charge you to program the new sensors, or was it included with the purchase of the sensors?

i just got four aftermarket sensors in with my 22s and they show all ** on the display. i need to get them programmed presumably...

I think it could be some kind of module that is not the TPMS in the tire. Mine has been wonky lately too. First, one tire was reading **, then a second, then a third. At first I figured all the batteries died at the same time. But then, pressures started reading again on two of the tires- so 3 were reading and one was at **.. for the past week or so, I have two that are reading and two that are **... I know the batteries cant be turning on and off, so it has to be something else.

Not to make light of the subject, but mine has not worked in years. I use the old fashion way and look at the tires. I liked the TPMS but it is a pain and expensive to fix.

myother45isalesbaer - I really don't care if it displays or not but the wife does.

I spoke to the advisor and he showed me the errors that were active and being emitted by the display which were all over the place. I assume from their analyzer. The tech recommended to replace the display to address the issue ($2800 yeah right $80 on eBay) as he believes that is the issue. 6 years ago I did the Infiniti navigation update (replaced screen to 8", drive, controller) so I still have the old display I removed. I am going to try and put the 7" back in to see if it addresses the issue. If it does I will buy another 8" on eBay to replace the one they claim is not working

Still believe there is another issue going on but this will be the test.

I don't see what the display would have to do with anything the tpms receivers aren't in there.. How much did infiniti charge you to program the new sensors?

They programmed them as part of the initial replacement cost. I want to say it was $50 or $60 a sensor. That included parts, install, and programming.

OP, have you driven over 25 mph for over 10 minutes straight as the manual indicates is required before they will start working? I'm thinking that if you never have that long of a non-stop drive, they may have never calibrated or whatever and that may be why the one that was displaying dropped back off. I've never experienced any issues, but I've lucked out and hit green lights where I normally hit red lights after every tpms and/or tire change and rotation so far.

the00dustin- The wife drives the car about 30 miles each way to work between 55-75mph sustained each day. So that should not be the issue.

Just an update on the Display errors.

I entered system diagnostic mode at the display and found that the unit had not been cleared from the original vehicle it had been installed in. The unit came from another M as part of the NAV update I had done years back. 99% of the errors in the log were due to the DVD player which does not exist in my configuration and none from TPMS. So I cleared it and no DVD there now. Not sure why the dealers tech did not notice this as he could have just looked in the center console. So I am sure there is nothing wrong with the display. I also noticed that the TPMS (Rx) stated it was "OK". I will let the wife drive it to work tomorrow and we will see if the pressure will display after her long ride.

On my previous 07 M35, I had new tires installed and the display showed *** instead of pressure readings. I took it back to the tire place and their tool showed that all the sensors were transmitting info but the car wasn't reading it. They told me that it may take a few miles or a day or two for the car to display the pressures. I was leaving on a trip the next day, so I just figured I would take it to the dealer when I got back home. My trip was north from Florida to Maryland and I checked periodically but no readings. About 800 miles into the drive, the display finally showed pressures and worked fine ever since. When I got back I had the dealer check the car and they could not explain why it took that long for the car to read the sensors.

larz - When you say the dealer were your TPMS sensors OEM or aftermarket? Hopefully I will encounter the same end result.
