I see tpms sets price range from $110-$260. Is there something specific I have to look for when getting one of these? Is there a reason for such a price difference? Once I get them, does the shop or dealer have to do something to them to program them, or do I just drive highway speeds for a period of time and they'll kick in?

im guessing the range in price is due to aftermarket TPMS making up the lower end of the range and the OEM TPMS being the more expensive. Every once in a while Infinitipartsusa.com will have OEM ones for $50 each but thats not always the price. I would call their 800 # and ask them to sell you 4 for $200 if they dont currently offer that deal and im guessing they will, or atleast take some money off. I also would stay away from aftermarket ones and pay a little more for OEM ones. Thats just my opinion and i dont have anything to say that aftermarket ones are bad, just OEM tends to be a little more reliable/compatible from past experience on other parts.

OK, but what about how they are initiated? Are they automatically picked up by the sensor, or do they have to be, can they be, programmed by the installer, or are they only programmable by the dealer? OEM or aftermarket.

They can only be reprogrammed by Infiniti. If you put them in new tires, and they are the same ones you had, your car will eventually pick them up (if you drive 55+ for like 10 minutes).

But if you get entirely new ones, you need to have them installed and then have the dealer program them.

If you want, I had an old set of wheels with functioning TPMS. I can have them removed at I can sell them to you for say...$80 + shipping.

That will work, but a couple questions I didn't realise and forgot to ask.
1/ I see you have an 07, everytime I searched and came up with 07 tpms, it said not compatible with 08. What is the situation with that?
2/ Why didn't you use these instead of getting new ones for your new rims?
3/ Continuation of 2, do I need to know something about using these on aftermarket rims? is there something extra I have to get?
Thanks.

1) I'm not sure if it's compatible. Your best bet would be to ask your local dealer.
2) I got new TPMS and wheels/tires mounted all together by Tirerack. I didn't want to have everything shipped separately and then have Walmart or some crap chain store screw something up while mounting everything. I trust Tirerack much more.
3) I think you may need a rebuild kit either way...whether your buy mine or someone elses. I don't think they are expensive (like $20 or so). Again, find out from your dealer.

From a quick google search...looks like it's not required but just recommended. As long as mine are removed without being damaged, it shouldn't be needed.

Firestone was able to reprogram one of my sensors fairly easily after I had one installed there.

I stand corrected. Tirerack told me I needed to go to Infiniti.

How much did they charge? Infiniti is telling me $50 for all four.

TireRack used to say that they would just work. I think a few M owners who can't follow directions / drive 10 minutes over 25mph (or whatever it is), that or else a few M owners with buggy M's that really won't automatically detect them (if those really exist) told them othrewise. Either way, I wouldn't be surprised if even the aftermarket ones just worked. If the aftermarket or OEM ones didn't just work, YMMV at tire shops, the Big O that rotates mine tries to program with their computer every time and fails every time (thankfully they do work automatically).

If you completely replace them...you need to program to your cars computer as they are on a certain frequency. Brand new ones wont 'just work' as far as I know. OEM ones that have been set to your car, after moving to new wheels or tires, should indeed just work after 10 minutes of 50mph driving or whatever.

Does anyone have any experience with Orange Electronic TPMS? I bought some oem from ebay, but they are taking too long. So I found them by Orange Electronic on amazon for $38.
