Hi All,Took my Versa in for a TPMS reset before Thanksgiving. They got it reset and ordered a new controller. I'm finally taking the car in next week to get that replaced (along with the dangerous brake fluid reservoir cap!). The service manager specifically mentioned to bring all of our keys in case they have to reset them.

Anyone know why this would be, or have it happen to them? It doesn't bother me, I'm just curious.

If it is the "controller" for the TPMS system that is being replaced, I think they may be replacing your BCM (Body Control Module). This is a computer that controls most of the electronic functions that are not engine related (which would be controlled by the ECU).

It is possible that the iKey is controlled by this part as well.

So if I'm putting new tires and wheels on my car, should I take it to the dealership and have them install the new tires so that they can re-set the TMPS?

That's a good question. One would hope that manufacturers use a somewhat universal code set for TPMS (similar to OBD-II), and that tire places will have a reregistration device.
