This has happened to me 3 times now - the 1st time was when I was on my way up to Las Vegas to get my 15,000 mile service (about 2mths ago) and while driving at approx 80mph my TPMS started blinking steadily - continued for about 1-2min and them stopped. I was really worried I was going to have a blowout or something, so I stopped & check my tire pressure -it was fine. I mentioned it to the service tech who basically cut me off mid sentence and was like "yeah, yeah, yeah -we'll check it out." When the car was done I asked about it & he said everything looked fine.About 1.5 mths later, I was driving up to Las Vegas again (not car related) and in almost the same area of the drive (90miles from where I live to LV) it happened again!! I checked my tire pressure at the next gas station @ it was just fine. Finally, on my way home from California the day after Thanksgiving I was doing between 80-100 mph on the I-40 when it started blinking for about a minute, then stayed on for maybe 30 seconds and then went out. Checked the tire pressure when I got home, just fine again.

Any one got any ideas???

When you have a tire pressure problem, the light will come on steady. When it flashes for about one minute it's a malfunction and you need to have it serviced. (From the Owner's Manual and many folks' experience here on the forum...)

Which dealership do you get your car serviced at? Douglas, United or Planet?

I have a good idea.......SLOW DOWN! The car wasn't designed to run at such high speeds. Maybe the blinking is some sort of internal indicator letting you know that you're going too fast????

I don't know about that one... My little V LOVES to go fast

Especially on the 93 and 95 in NW AZ... Those roads BEG for you to speed, and my V loves it.

The fastest I will drive my V is 80mph (which is rare...) but I've never had this problem. Take it to a dealer (maybe a different one?) and INSIST they look it over and FIX IT this time....

I'm just guessing here, but possibly driving at sustained speeds between 80 and 100 m.p.h. in a desert climate with small diameter tires is creating excessive tire heat that is causing the TPMS sensors to temporarily malfunction.

I don't condone driving these speeds on a public highway, but if you absolutely MUST, for god's sake buy REAL tires... Preferably V or higher rated. The Contis will not hold up well to that kind of heat, and 90 MPH is NOT the time to have a blowout.

My first gut instinct is to agree with Texman... the excessive heat of the fast driving and the desert is probably causing the TPMS to go off. Whether is it system malfunction or reporting OVERinflation (I don't know if the system monitors that, but the more you heat a gas, the higher its pressure will go)...

Please go out to your V and look at the manufacturer's date plate on the rear portion of your driver's door jamb. When was it built? If it was before 12/06, you could have a bad BCM or bad TPMS sensors. If it was built 12/06 or later, I'm more inclined to say it's complaining about what you're doing to the tires.

It was built 10/06. Next time I take it in for service I will ask them to check it out for me. I was planning on replacing my tires @ around 30K, (which will be probably in about 4-6mths) so I will get some "real" tires. Until then I will try to take it easy. Thanks for the concern.

I had this happen to me 3 times. I think it was some sort of rf signal interference in the vicinty of my car. It was on the same strech of road each time and since the tpms sensors send rf I figured there was some interference causing the tpms warning. The first time I stopped and checked everything out. There never was any real problem

I don't have any problem of that kind... I already run my versa over 120mph and I got no problem with that...

I don't know what the problem is... sorry.

no idea EV, but I opened her up to 110 (when I got passed by a mustang going about 120) and there didn't seem to be any disagreement. It was remarkable how little complaining my car did going that speed.

My poor 200sx nearly died when I got her up that fast.

You wouldn't think there'd be so many open stretches of 4 lane highways in florida... people get crazy around 2 am out here. Think we had almost 7 cars going 110 in our convoy that night, and we all split as quickly as we met .

PS: There's numerous studies out there that say speeding (about 5-10% faster than the flow of traffic) is safer than going at or under the speed limit. In fact, most government agencies take traffic engineers suggestions for speed and reduce them 5-10 mph to cover their own asses, thus actually increasing traffic dangers. Beautiful, isn't it? However, going a grotesque amount over the speed limit is clearly and admittedly stupid.

Did those studies take into account herd mentality, that if you tell everyone that 5-10% is better, that everyone WILL make 5-10% their normal speed, thus making THAT the dangerous speed?

And no amount of INCREASED speed makes braking safer. That should be a no-brainer.

I'm Canadian and my car is marked in km/h but i got 210km/h with my versa and it take a long time to have it and the power is almost gone but I never get a firewall or something like that... just not enough power to go higher...

210km/h on 6th speed @ 5300RPM approximatly...
