Hi guys,

A few months after I got my Rogue last year I also got a set a winter tires on steel rims before the snowfall. I also had TPMS included in the set when I had them installed, and everything was done at the dealer. I took my all-seasons home to store in the garage for the winter.

Last weekend I decided to swap back to my all-seasons, and just did it from home. I was expecting to run into issues with the TPMS, since I read that you'd need to have a special gadget and access to the CONSULT software to register them. When I ran on my all-seasons the first time after mounting, it just gave me the 'Please wait while TPMS acquires tire pressure' message the entire time. So I kind of resigned myself to having to bring it to the dealer for relearning.

Imagine my pleasant surprise when I took the car out the second time and saw all four tires reporting properly. I would've thought it was a fluke, but I've been driving it now for the last couple of days and they're reporting normally. :woot:

I've searched through several threads and couldn't confirm if this was the case, so lucky me? I'd rather not jinx it though :ohno:

Here is how the TMPS system works: If the TMPS system is already connected with the tires before they were removed, and was reconnected at a later time, the system recognizes the tires and rims, as it stores a serial number that is associated with the tire & wheel.

Hi datechboss,

Thanks for clarifying. I've been under the impression that the system can only retain IDs for one set of TPMS. I couldn't find information on the contrary, and most information I could find only mention of having to use CONSULT to relearn IDs.:bigthumb:

This video will best explain how the system works, regardless of manufacturer:

But now it gets tricky as I bought a set of SV rims from a '18 rogue with tires (take off) and put them on to my '15 with no issues. No programming and these have never been on this car before.

Also these TPMS sensors are the rubber kind not the steel nut type on my other rims.

Hi guys,

I just started having issues with my TPMS yesterday when I switched from my winters to all seasons. It's not detecting the sensors anymore and the TPMS indicator light is on. Tried driving it but it still hadnt registered anymore. It was fine the first two times I switched wheels like I mentioned above, so not sure what could've made them unregistered.

I should mention I've noticed this several times trying to look for info on this forum -- but the Search function is completely wonky and returns only a few results, if any.

Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

TIA

don't tell that to the moderator, he loves and defends his precious search feature. I've seen him get kinda rude and nasty about it. :wtf2:

Ok, so quick update. After driving on and off around two more times, it seems the sensors finally registered on their own. Strange, since the last two times I switched wheels it didn't take more than driving once for the sensors to kick in properly.

Appreciate the heads up. I understand the push for trying to search things first -- because personally I'd rather try to find it on my own and not be bothering any one if it can be helped; but if the actual thing being pushed doesn't meet the need then I believe there has to be some sort of alternative available. Just my 2c though... :bigthumb:
