TPMS and Aftermarket Rims

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I am thimking of some aftermarket rims for the summer, and instead of swapping back and forth, I would just keep my stock rims for Winter. My question is, if I buy a set of the stock Infiniti TPMS sensors for these new rims, do I have to have them installed at the dealer? Or should any tire shop be able to install and activate them (Provided they do TPMS)?

Thanks,

Ron

Any tire shop can install the infiniti tpms if it fits on the new rim.

Are you willing to pay $50+ for the Infiniti dealer to reprogram your TPMS

module to receive the set of wheel with the sensor everytime you switch

back and forth (summer wheels vice versa winter wheels). I mean you`ll

pay them everytime you switch rims.

Our EX35 TPMS module (Computer module) can only register 1 frequency

only. Your stock rims/tpms is registered in the module. If you switch with

new rims/new tpms, means infiniti will overwrite the old frequency and

program the new tpms frequency from your new tpms/wheels. The next

time you install the stock rims/stock tpms, Infiniti will have to reprogram

that again. Some cars can store 2 frequency, but not ours...
