OK, so I put my winter tires on the car about a week ago. I was expecting the TPMS light to come on, but it didn't. I drove for about a week on winter tires and no TPMS light. Finally, after a week, today the light comes on, blinks rapidly for about a minute or so, then remains on.I read up on TPMS in owner's manual. It describes the behaviour of the system as a malfunction.Anyone have similar experience? Thanks in advance.

Did you use the OEM wheels for your tires? Or did you use new wheels? Do you have the original TPMS sensors on the car?

I should clarify. I have winter tires on steel rims. So I just swap them off the car and put the OEM mags with the summer tires in storage for a few months.

The fact that I am no longer running car with the sensors should have tripped the warning light right away. But I ran for a full week on the winter tires without the low pressure warning.

Only now after a delay of a week did the light come on. And it is not indicating low pressure, rather it is indicating malfunction (as per the manual). So I'm just wondering if this is normal.

Thanks again. Sorry my first post was not clear.

Hmmm...generally I've seen the system just leave the light on for some, but I know my dad's nissan does the flash thing. Technically it is normal, as the system is running without the sensors on the unit...nothing to worry about really - all it does it look at tire pressure.
