Hello , I plan on putting aftermarket wheels without the tire pressure monitors , does anyone know if this will keep the light on the dash on all the time. I did a little research and found someone said the computer looks for a low signal from the sensor and would not illuminate the dash in the absence of the sensors. Any help would be appreciated

I just put a set of 19's on my car... they didn't have the sensors and i was worried about the same thing.

NO the light doesn't stay on becasue i think there is one in the spair that keeps the system in check!

I'm confused. Can someone explain how the system works in terms of tire rotation or changing wheels. I "thought" the dealership told me you had to recalibrate every time you rotate the tires! So how could changing wheels not effect the system with only the spare in place?

I think I started the TPM in the spare idea. Short version my 07 Sequoia has TPM in the spare the 07 G35 does not.

I have track tires (see sig picture) they do not have TPM sensor in them. I ran them at the track all day 50 miles and the light stayed on the entire time.

So on the 07 G35 Journey Sedan the light stays on if the wheels/tires do not have TPM in them.

Does rotating tires affect the system?

Why would the dealer lie like a rug to me? The service guy was telling me to mark my wheels to put them back in the same location if I got tires somewhere else. He said every time I rotated the tires, the system would need to be recalibrated. I don't think he was treating me like an idiot because of our extensive conversation about autocrossing and yes mustangs. (see how I slipped that in! LOL). Mine is an 04 does that make a difference, or was the service guy full of it or mistaken.

No, you can put the sensors on your new wheels. My question was about moving the sensors by tire rotation. Would that set the sensor off?

Maybe the service guy didn't know?

Try rotating your tires and see what happens?

Nice work with the Mustang slip in

i wouldnt think so. i just left butler tire and they said nothing about tpms when rotating tires. i would think that is only the case when your tpms displays tire pressures all 4 wheels. like the new ac tl's. it shows the pressure of front left/right and back left/right. and if you rotated your tires bringing your front to the back it would mess display incorrect info. thus needing the calibration

I will try soon. My current tires are too old to rotate. I might try it just to see. I guess the system has some great safety advantages, but when I first got the car I was just thinking "stupid TPM system". My wife's 4 runner system keeps going off=pain 4 me to fix.

My understanding is yes. They are located with the valve stems.

I rotate my tires myself and never had a problem with sensors. All my tires and wheels are the same. I got 47k miles on my original set of Bridgestones 235-45-18 and rotated them every 7500 miles. I replaced them in January and still had 5/32 on one tire and 6/32 on the other three. I began hydroplaning in slush and heavy rain & got rid of them. My G handles much better now even though the tires are summer tires. I will be rotating these every 5k miles.
