A good friend recently had some issues with her '04 Corolla. The fuel fill pipe corrodes until it perforates then throws a CEL light similar to leaving the gas cap off. Not to mention it now leaks gas if the tank is filled to the top!

Despite the fact it is known problem with '03-'04 Corollas and Matrix, Toyota will only replace the part (with a new redesigned piece) if it is still under the emissions system warranty... 3yr or 36,000mi. Once the warranty expires, the fuel fill pipe is about $500 to replace. This is silly since it takes a few years for the pipe to corrode in the first place. By that time the warranty is up. BTW, Toyota has not issued a recall, only a service bulletin describing the repair despite what I consider is a serious safety problem.

Needless to say she is a bit upset over it!

You could throw BMW, Mercedes, Porche, Audi...blah blah blah. The point is all car makers have problems to deal with. None of them are perfect. I would say how they deal with the problems is more important, than how many problems there are.

I agree and I bet few of them address a lot of the problems as quick as the owner of the vehicle with the problem would prefer. But the bottom line is do they eventually admit a problem and come up with a fix. To me it is to early to tell with the Rogue that has been on the market 9-10 months.
