The Versa name is only used in North America - and the Verso will not be sold here. The Europeans know our car as the Tiida. So at least they didn't call this the Toyota Tiido.
I agree that car naming creativity is sorely lacking but without overlap in the same market, it really is a non-issue.
And, by the way, Toyota has been using the Verso name since 1997, when it was unveiled as a Corolla-trim MPV (Corolla Verso). I think that predates Nissan's use of 'Versa' by about 7 years, right?
