Pssh...I liked it...but the only difference is that if i had one like that...i'd be taking it offroad everytime I got the chance. I wouldn't baby it as I do with my vert...I would drive it like it's meant to be driven.Oatmealman wrote:your kidding right?i hated that truck,it was a mall queen
You realize that the towing capacity is 5000lbs right? So you take a 3000 lb car and put it on a 2-2.5k trailer and you're maxed out. That would not be fun to tow around.Bumnah wrote:ridgeline is heavy enough and has enough power to tow a flat bed with a car on it. driving one you can tell it needs more balls. i've heard honda has already planned on putting in a big v8.
yeah. i know it's right at the edge. i'm hoping to get the car weight to around 2500, and 2k for trailer. with electric brakes on the trailer it shouldn't be too bad, but i do realize it's right near the edge of being okay. i won't be towing it too often anyways.cstang1968 wrote:You realize that the towing capacity is 5000lbs right? FYI a bud of mine just got a new chebby z51 towing package and he can't tow 7000lbs up a grade with it due to the gearing. He is fighting with chebby now because he can't tow his work trailer anymore.
Actually, I like the Sport Trac a lot. I'd rather have a crew cab Frontier or Tacoma, though. (Actually I'd rather have an extended cab Frontier or Taco...). Ultra-short-bed pickups never really appealed to me.topless94 wrote:I think this truck is teh ugliness...
Exactly. The old 5.2 was a great light tow vehicle. And if you're lucky enough to be able to get your hands on a 5.9 Dakota...you've got yourself a little beastie. You should be able to find a 5.9 Dakota for under $15k.cstang1968 wrote:Why not just get a mid-late 90's dodge dakota with a V8?
Well...to each his own...MinisterofDOOM wrote:The BBTF Toyota is hot. Always thought so.

I've got an S10 now, and I bought it brand new in 03. I don't like it very much, the fit and finish on the japanese makes are better than the american counter part. what i want is honda reliablity and good gas mileage.cstang1968 wrote:Why not just get a mid-late 90's dodge dakota with a V8?
Understandable...but don't judge the Dakota based on the S10.Bumnah wrote:I've got an S10 now, and I bought it brand new in 03. I don't like it very much, the fit and finish on the japanese makes are better than the american counter part. what i want is honda reliablity and good gas mileage.
i understand chevy and dodge are completely different maybe the dodge is better, but this chevy has left a bad taste in my mouth, so I'll go with someone I trust.
Eh, Toyota fails miserably at their Full size truck attempts, to be sure. But the Tacoma has always been right next to the Frontier at the head of the midsize truck class. Even the T100 was a good truck. At least with that one they got smart and stopped trying to convince everyone it was full size.cstang1968 wrote:Toyota has pretty much cornered the market on trucks that can't haul or tow anything. Show trucks...but if you are actually trying to tow anything I would highly recommend that you testdrive some american trucks. Hell my coworker's husband works for TRD and he has a fullsize chebby to tow his toybox. He had a tundra and supercharged it, and it still couldn't tow worth a bean.
A friend at work put 150k on his 4x4 2000 S10 extended cab. In that time, he had the transmission (5spd) rebuilt and a few other major repairs. He owned a late 90's Tacoma before the S10, and when he decided to replace the S10, he went right back to Toyota. He just got a 06 4x4 6spd Tacoma 4 door. That thing is pretty sweet and it wont fall apart in 5 years. It can fit him and his two sons and tow their 2 ATVs with no problem...Bumnah wrote:

I'll be holding onto my s10 for a while though (sadly). Just window shopping pretty much.

How 'bout that timing belt?elweezo33 wrote:The only things I have had worked on are brakes, tires and oil..
Did you really search a thread from 2006 on a Nissan site to defend your Toyota by trash talking American trucks?elweezo33 wrote:Ugliest truick = Chevy Silverado.. A boring box
In the past I have owned a F150 and a Silverado and my 03 Tundra Stepside out lasted them both. 240K miles and still going smooth.. My F150 was Ok and my silverado was a pile O junk. I have hauled alot with my Tundra and carried enough wood to build a 12x12 deck.. Have had several loads of concrete in it and it just keeps going. The only things I have had worked on are brakes, tires and oil.. My family and friend who bought Dodge, Ford and G.M have ALL had to replace there trucks and mine keeps going.. You can hate all the hate you want.. Best auto purchase I have ever made hands down

Such a sweet truck that got overshadowed by the (awesome) DeLorean in that movie.Gold Digger wrote:Toyota.
