they shouldn't drop the name, rather make a product that lives up to it.

New news to me. I agree that they should come out with something better to replace them cuz their line up will have a hole in it.

Oh and I agree with 1der. The Celica and MR-2 name should never be dropped. Toyata needs a car that can compete with the higher level sports cars like the RX-8/Z/S2K as well as keep the Celica and MR-2 .Maybe Toyota should toss a turbo engine in the MR-2 to compete with the Miata. IDK. They just shouldnt drop it. Thats just the same as if Nissan decided to drop the Sentras. It just wouldnt be right at all.

You're kidding me, right?

Although they haven't made the Supra in over 5 years, the MKIV will still dominate just about anything on the road... including the Skyline.

MR2 -> Whipped by MiataCelica -> Whipped by... Fill in the blank with anything. But essentially deemed redundant by the new Scion TC.

Yes Jesda that is very true. That's why I said they drop the costs on the 2 a bit and offer a turbo version to keep up with the new Miatas. Handleing might not be as good, but at leats it'll be faster than it is right now.

do you like '77 Liftback Celicas though? or perhaps the Turbo MR 2's or the Supercharged MKI?

the Celicas started sucking when they went to FWD. the All trac was cool, but still no Liftback. Or a MKIII Celica....

let's not forget where the Supra came from either.

Thank god the Celica is gone. I'm sad however that the MR2 is departing. In all honesty though their sales have never been to great in the US.

I liked the old liftback Celica Supras for nostalgia purposes...

and the SW20 MR2 turbos ('91 - '96 IIRC) are sweet, if they were cheaper and not such a pain to work on, I might have one instead of the S13. Alas that'll have to wait until some other time when I have more money and patience.

I wonder what impact this will have on the age of the average Toyota customer? A lot of Buick regulars are picking up Avalons and Camrys now.

honda is dropping the NSX. they were going to restyle it, but they decided to can it instead.
