mr-s kicks ***. i want one when the price comes down more.

the thing weighs 2195 lbs. that toyota motor is strong, with a turbo is in the 12's easy,11's if you push it.

i used to have a 1st gen and 2nd gen MR2. i want one of the new ones as a project when they get cheaper.

people in japan swap the 1zz to 2zz. The stock 1zz is alright. Not alot of aftermarket for these engine's. Top secret makes a turbo for the MR-s

yeah, a celica gts motor cant be that expensive from a junkyard. turbo'd, pushing 14 psi, that little mr-s is gone.

the first gen i had was a total blast. the second gen was a little heavier, but was still nimble.

i test drove the 3rd gen, and i absolutely love it. im just not going to spend 10k+ on something im gonna tear apart and rebuild.

my one and only complaint was that the clutch was way too soft.

im used to driving commercial trucks and performance cars with heavy clutches. i cant stand a soft clutch.

heh, well ive yet to drive one so i cant really say anything about that, but i like the idea of having a mid-engined rear-wheel drive car. and they are pretty stiff for such a nimble car. but i agree that ill wait for the price to come down a bit before i consider getting one. gonna finish the 240 first anyway so its a ways off...

[edit] yeah and the fact that its so lite and doesnt need much power to be fast is nice too. i wouldnt go crazy with the horespower anyway, not more than 250. i like a nice fast ride, but low and stiff is good too. but it seems much more attainable with this car and that 2zz engine than trying to save every penny i get for an imported engine that would give me about the same power...

you could get away with the stock motor pushing some boost.

open it up for some pistons, rings, maybe rods, and fresh bearings. 12-14 psi on that would have he car plenty fast.

on the mr2 forums, on guy boosted the stock 1zz on i think 11 psi and was hitting 12.0 with conservative tuning.

i think it was like 10 or 11 psi, and he was running it real rich for saftey and was hitting consistent 12 flat.

10-11psi on a stock 1zz is almost at its limits. Id stay around 6-8psi. 220whp + light car = fun to drive.

I'm also having my 1zz boosted as we speak. It should be installed by now and getting tuned. I should have the car this weekend(hopefully).
