After 15,000 miles and many, many hours of flogging, today, I can confirm with great pride that Toyo Proxes T1R tires is head and shoulders better than the Bridgestone RE0050. I have no idea why Infiniti chose the bridgestones for the G-35.

My final analysis of these tires is based 35% on straightline driving and 65% on twisty road driving both in wet and dry conditions. At 15,000 miles, going through the twisties on my secret track at speeds between 8* and 1** miles per hour, I am 1000% completely satisfied with its performance, handling, and wear. I will also add that i have Nitrogen in my tires, so that maybe a factor as well.

The front tires still have a good 10,000 miles before they wear out and the rears probably have another 5,000 miles before they go out. The Bridegstone RE 0050 tires at 15,000 miles, when I used to have them on my tires, were already beginning to give way and show signs of lessening grip. They were dangerous in the rain at 15,000 miles.

Can anyone tell me why Infiniti chose a poor performing tires for their Infiniti? I think it would be nice to demand an explanation from Infiniti for this discovery.

LOL

You have to start driving it harder. 15k and they still look good. My tires look crap after 12k. No matter what I buy. LOL I've got 18k out of the brakes.

Add Nitrogen to your tires and see if it helps with tire wear. What about checking on the inflation on your tires? Also, try driving without VDC ON---VDC increases grip and slows down the car, and thus uses up tire very quickly. I don't drive with VDC at all---I have only used it about three times this year---97% of my driving is with VDC OFF.

I don't drive my G everyday since I have the little nissan, because I want to be excited driving it the day after, at the secret track---I go crazy with it when I do. Different drivers with different driving skills, will use up tires differently. I beleive Toyos are great with wear as Joe603 uses them as well and he seems to get a lot of tire life out of them---i beleive close to 20,000 miles. I don't know how much harder i should drive a car with brake fade, brake fluid smelling, and plastic rubber smell.

By the way, the Toyo tires don't grip the road the normal way. They sort of slide around a little bit under hard driving in curves---its like having skis on the car---I actually enjoy the sliding sensation---you may feel like you are loosing control but the car feels planted. It can get unnerving when going through twisties at high speeds as you can feel the rear tires sliding a little but still planted on the road. Try the Toyos and I am sure you will be pleased and I am sure it will change your views. Also, put the VDC OFF and then see what the result looks like.

I barely got 19,000 miles from my Bridegstones, which I kept at home as a souvenir for how lousy they were.

As for brakes, with OEM brakes, since I added the test pipes and other mods, its about 15K for me---costs me $50 (turning rotor and doing brakes). I am replacing my front brake pads which i replaced in March, this Friday--they are gone already but the front tires look great. Oh, and I am going to replace the Royal Purple oil as well again This is the only way i get the brake replacement deals with my technician. So, why not---fresh oil doesn't hurt any engine.

This is how it works for me, my front brakes and rear tires go before my rear brakes and front tires.

My little nissan gets jealous of not getting enough miles on her. So, this weekend I took her out and gave her a good 160 miles of non stop driving. She was happy and satisfied after that.

lol... Why do manufacturers put lesser performing tires on their lineup of cars - especially the non-sport models?

I've purchased about 6 sets of tires from tirerack now - some for my own cars, some for friends/family etc.... and did lots of research into why most, if not all of the OEM tires are lesser than the available options.

the answer: because most manufacturers choose a tire for their specific vehicles by weighing out the different attributes of the rubber. Attributes like: wear, grip, noise, COST, and relationship with the tire manufacturer.---You see - the big wigs at Nissan and Bridgestone USA or Japan - sign contracts* - and get the tires at a bulk cost*. --- it comes down to the $$cost.

Furthermore: why do the tire manufacturers do this bulk cost discount for Nissan [or other car manufacturers]? --- one obvious reason: to accertain a presence in the industry --- and also to guarantee* future sales -meaning - when the average JOE decides to get new tires - they look for OEM tires - and WE all know that the OEM tires are like 20-even 50% higher than the next similar performing tire -LOL- not badmouthing the way they do business - after all - both parties are in it to make a buck - it is the capitalist [American] way

Jacko, I do agree - if i were to be looking for a summer tire - I would have went with the T1R's... But I chose the Goodyear Eagle F1-all seasons - becasue I needed All season capabilities. ... ... the OEM Bridgestone Potenza RE050A's are actually good tires - for an OEM tire - wears fast - but performs well... BUT THE GOODYEAR RS-A's on the NON-sport models - are a joke ---for its cost --- it is absolutely a joke... -LOUD,NO GRIP TIRES - that get put on a whole list of vehicles -domestic and imports. ---

thanks for listening to my rants --- I'm passionate on Tires and OIL for my G --- makes a world of difference in almost every way

I agree completely. I have the same passion as well.

Guess what? Now we are giving them a tongue lashing. If only they did the right thing in the beginning, no one would be here bad mouthing the Bridgestones. Secondly, the Bridgestones are a little more expensive than the excellent Toyos. I mean, this is the height of arrogance in my book by bridgestones----a poor performing tire being more expensive than an excellent tire like the Toyo.

1. The oil Infiniti put inthe car when i bought it, was an extremely low performing oil---utter rubbish. Today i use Royal Purple and the car seems like a different beast.

2. The brake pads they use on the G is good---works just fine, but it is too soft and wears quickly and i don't know how many real hard laps it can handle---so far i only do two hard laps on my secret track and brake fade creeps in---perhaps the OEM brakes were used simply to improve street braking without warping the rotors prematurely. Weight of the G also contributes to this.

3. OEM air intake is total rubbish. Car needed mrevv, spacer, and JWT pop Charger to come alive, especially at higher RPMS. OEM air intake is great at low RPMS.

4. OEM sway bars seem insufficient at some curves on a track----next year my OEM sway bars are history. I am getting real sway bars form stillen.

5. OEM cat back exhaust is heavier than Stillen catback exhaust. Simply replacing that OEM exhaust reduces weight on car and improves gas mileage.

Why did the manufacturer skimp on some of these things? we will never know what is going on inside Nissan.

Only excellent things about the car which is what i love the most, is the reliability of the engine and transmission---bullet proof. Of course, engine and transmission are everything in the car. Another great thing about the car is the self-learning ECU. I find that piece of their machine very interesting i how it tries to save the car by itself.
