i am considering getting the toyo proxes ra-1's as my track(road course) tires. i was wondering if anyone has these tires, or if anyone has ever used them. if so, please tell me how you liked them.

if i don't get the toyo's, i am going to get the rt-615's. please tell me how those two compare to each other.

thanks

have you run any track sessions yet?

if not, get the falkens, or some hankook ventus rs2's

youll be better off learning on those, they wont hide your mistakes like the ra-1's or other r-comps will

however...if you have run plenty of events, ra-1's are close to the best youll get, and easily the best for the money

i have run 1 session so far. i plan to run many more. the next is september 10th i think. i want the most grip possible, but still have a street legal tire. i am not worrying about tread life, because these will be track only tires.

then id definately get the falkens

youll learn more now on tires with less grip...in the end once you do switch youll be faster than those who learned on slicks and other faster tires

to give you an idea...most people run like 7-8 events at least on rt615's before moving up to ra-1's or something similar

I run the Proxes RA1 as my track days tires ---love them. I had them shaved to 6/32nds instead of 4, so I can use them as my rain tires for AutoX as well. Tires have good grip and wear well. I highly recommend them. I have not run the RT615 --so I cannot comment on that tire.

I know you will learn more about handling if you go with a "street" compound ---but you will still learn alot on the RA1's ---they are not as sticky as some R compounds---so you get a nice compromise between say a hoosier or a V710. --I have also heard good things about the hankooks --but never used them

i can race in canada, but i have not done that yet. my dad has been driving for me here. i am doing this as a project.

from what i have been told, it all depends on the event holder's insurance
