yea it would be smarter to keep that 4k in the bank and just have the car towed home if something happens.

4k wont cover a reliable truck and trailer.

i wonder if a late 90's 4 runner would even be able to get the job done....???

i know the newest gen 4 runners can handle it, as long as it's a v6 since my buddy does it...but i've towed my car with an expedition with the v8 triton motor and it had some trouble going up hill. it'd be in high second and as soon as it shifted to 3rd, it'd kickback down to 2nd.

my other buddy tows his s13 with the new infiniti QX...and it pulls like theres nothing behind it! lol

I bought my 93 Ford Ranger STX for towing (haven't pulled my car on the trailer yet), but my team mate always tows my car in his fullsize GMC Sierra 4wd on my other team mates tandem axle car trailer. This season my stuff is going to be low so I think I am going to have to build some longer ramps for the trailer though. It rubbed the front before, yet I am going atleast two inches lower.

I've seen people use late 80s-early 90s F250s and F350s to pull cars. I think a late 90s f150 can handle it cuz my dad has pulled an 18ft boat and im gonna guess that thats got to be about the weight of a car. I think your best bet might be to get and F250 or F350 or some kind of old chevy pickup. As long as you don't car about luxury or looks those trucks will work fine. You might wanna check out local landscaping companies and see if there selling any trucks. Also my dad works for my towns public works and when they get new trucks the aution of the old ones and the have some F250s, 350s, and 450s that usually don't cost more than $1500 dollars or so. And he's a mechanic and said their maintained pretty well so they'd be reliable as an occasional tow vehicle.

NICE! hey... do you live in Simi? just noticed the dealer plates.. Thats my bro's X-runner (sorry about size/shot only pic I had at work) only about a year old, its his new vehicle but the old one is a 2005 Speedway-Blue 4x4 6spd TRD offroad we use as the "general toy-tower"

Can't go wrong with the new Tacoma IMO, pretty cheap for the value not to mention the pummeling 4.0 liter car do some serious Towing.

^thats what I bought to tow my ish around. 2007 Frontier. Hella comfortable driving from Sacramento to willow springs (7+ hours). I looked into the new Toyota trucks as well, but how can you say no to a VQ powered truck? Has way more than enuff power. Can cruise with the car, trailer, tools, mine and every1 else wheels @ 80mph no problem. love my truck <3

the main thing i would worry about is stopping it.Ive seen mini vans pulling bobcats before but when they go to stop even with trailer brakes it pushes them all over the place. My dad is in construction and i work with him, he has a F450 and it pulls a bobcat like its nuthin although even with that truck, we did have a wrecked b/c the trailer and bobcat pushed us down the hill sung us around like a 360 jumped a mail box and landed in a guys driveway so you can see my concern with stopping power also.just my 2 cents.

Nah, I live in the valley Northridge area. Friend of mine lives in Simi and told me I should at least test drive the Tacoma, after we test drove the Frontier.
