Curious about a blurb I remembered in the owner's man. on towing: said have the car towed backwards or serious damage to transmission could result (if I remember correctly). What is the technical reason for this? I assume it is not immune to damage in neutral at highway speeds. Is this a 'for real' concern, in case I ever need a tow (knock on wood...)

Also, are there other approved jacking points than the one's in the OM? (They specify what I think are notched pinch-welds). My floor jack (with the cup) bends these slightly!

The rear wheels MUST NOT turn if your car gets towed even in neutral.cuz the ATF pump won't be running, but your planetray will still be turning. It will chew up the planetary.

I prefer to tow a Q (if ever) on a flatbed and that's what I request.

As for jacking point they r shown in owners manual which has a drawing of thme that explains it better than I could.

If you cut a piece of 2x4 to fit your jack cup, then slot it about the depth of the pinch weld, you should be good with the factory jack points.
