Hi all. I'm moving to Wyoming this summer, and my R50 is charged with the task of pulling two adults, a child, and a small (5x8) storage trailer full of belongings across the midwest and up the mountains.

Can anyone offer any advice regarding things to check, mods to install, etc., to make this a worry-free trip? The car already has a hitch and four-pin wiring, I assume for lights.

I'm planning on dropping the transmission pan, replenishing the fluid, and maybe installing one of those additional filters on the return line. Am I correct in believing the vehicle has a transmission cooler? Should I look into installing an additional one?

Also, will I need trailer brakes for a trailer that weighs roughly 1,000 lbs.? Our cargo won't be too heavy, but I assume the trailer will be full. :)

Can anyone recommend an external fluid cooler?

TownCivilian used and recommended the B&M 70268, and indicated the slightly beefier B&M 70264 should fit as well. See the "Should I install an auxiliary transmission cooler?" question in the general information sticky for more info.

Congrats and good luck on the move!
