never towed a trailer before, got the cheapo walmart ball mount and flipped it cause the hitch is pretty low. it's just an open 5x8 that i got to tow my sv with my fx35. read things online that said not to grease the ball but i did spray some chain lube on it.

800 miles towing, plenty of full throttle and taking mountain turns too fast.

looks like the chrome wore off, i'm guessing i should have greased the ball with something?

even though the trailer was almost level with the 3/4" rise i'm thinking of getting one with a 1" rise, and a new ball obviously (stainless?)

Go with something better than wal-mart brand. You will be glad you paid for quality when your tow hitch doesnt snap off and your cargo is going off the side of a mountain
