Hey guys,

I don't post much, but I've been lurking around the boards for about 4 and half years now...

I'm installing a Nismo Power Brace and SPL T/C Rods...I searched for like an hour or 2 for the torque specs for the T/C Rods (both ends) and also for the bolts bolting the T/C Rod Brackets to the bottom of the car(which the Power Brace will replace)...couldn't find much. Think I finally found that the T/C Rods were 65-80 ft. lbs. but wasn't sure which end (assume bushing end). If anyone has these specs, I'd really appreciate it, cause I couldn't find 'em ANYWHERE:mad:

Thanks in advance,Bryan

Don't tighten the bolts on the tension rods to OEM spec. We include lock washers so there is no need for OEM torque. Tighten them down to 40 - 50 lb. ft.

Very cool...

Thanks for the info...I think I'll go put on my power brace now...if I take of the stock TC Rods, and set the SPL's to the same length (as close as I can get them anyway), will that be sufficient, I've got 2 new tires for the front anyway that are going on in the next couple thousand miles...

Thanks for the help!Bryan:ylsuper

Also...Nismo Freak...

I've seen some posts about the boots to go over the T/C Rods. Would it be wise to get them? What type of grease or lube should I use on the ends?

Thanks a lot!Bryan

I do not suggest putting any grease or lube on the rod ends, this just allows a media for dust and dirt to adhear to and work it's way into the bushing.

I'm not sure where you can pick up the boots from but from our experience the addition of the boots doesn't really add any life over periodical cleaning of the ends.

Honestly the rod ends are cheap and very simple to replace, for what people spend trying to make them live a little bit longer is money they could use to just buy an extra set and replace them when they wear.

FYI, caster does not affect tire wear. It's only mal-effect is poor / over responsive steering response and it can cause the vehicle to pull one way or another.

Nismo Freak, I'm not doubting your knowledge of your product by any means, so don't take this that way, but I've seen some posts out there about boots you can get from somewhere online (don't recall the name of the company at the moment) for like $12 for a pair. I definitely agree that a grease would give dirt something to stick to, but I wonder how they'd do with some grease AND the boots. That way they'd be greased for easier movement and less friction and the boots would prevent anything from getting to them i.e. dust, dirt, water, etc. Anyone have any experience with that scenario...

Thanks guys...

The boots are located here...at the bottom of the page.

The medium size is the size that fits. I also ran across this thread where you said you were going to be designing your own boots.

What ever happened with that? Did you make them?

Thanks for all the help,

Boots also have the double function of trapping dirt into themselves once it's in and rod ends are not designed to be greased.

I can physically pivot the bushing, so there is nothing wrong with the friction portion of the bushings operation.

Unless you are driving offroad every day I wouldn't worry so much. Like I said we have been running our product for quite some time and we haven't had any problems with excessive wear, etc. Even withen our customer ranks we have had very little complaint.

Just periodically wash them off... not hard to spray them down when you are washing the car.

We have boots, but they are expensive and generally a PITA to put on.

I see...

I also noticed that evidently there are 2 schools of thought when it comes to lube. I noticed some other TC rods for sale by another company that have grease zerks in them...hmmm, now I'm really up in the air....
