Should I buy a y-pipe if I buy a cat-back or are y-pipes just for axle-backs?

The Y-pipe gets rid of the third, and unmonitored cat. The cat-back system is from that cat back to the tips... So get the cat-back exhaust and throw on the y-pipe too!

Greddy all day. Spectrum Elite if you can find one. That's the exhaust I had, and from all the setups I have heard/used myself, it is the best especially when coupled to the y-pipe. Fantastic exhaust. Perfect fitment.

Stillen is by far the classiest, if you like the individual oval muffler look.

Round mufflers like GReddy look too much like EBay special knock-offs.

Greddy SE + y-pipe vs borla + y-pipe

I really want to upgrade my exhaust and I've heard both these set-ups are the tits but are there any differences in terms of HP increase or is simply taste in sound? The Greddy y-pipe combo is more expensive but I'll spend the extra dough if it means more value for the money.

Greddy will get you a true catback setup with the y-pipe. It makes the exhaust sound a bit more consistent to me. Borla doesn't replace the pipe between the muffler and the y-pipe, which is the second highest restrictive piece of the exhaust next to the y-pipe (flat spots in the piping and piping diameter shrinks in places).

The Greddy plus y-pipe gets you a true full exhaust upgrade. Not saying the Borla isn't bad or anything (it is a very good quality piece), but to get the most out of it, you'll likely want a custom pipe in between to get a full catback upgrade, but by the time you do that, it will be close to what you'll spend on the Greddy, and it is very unlikely it will be full stainless piping like the Greddy is.

My 2 cents worth.

Thanks for the input. I'm sold on the Greddy SE. Now, does anyone have a slightly used one for sale?

Already sold mine, sadly. Someone may have one, though. Might be a couple places online that have them in stock as well. The new Greddy SP Elite just got released for the AC, which is close to the same thing without blue tips.

Thanks Xenon. Well...according to Greddy, all exhausts for the 2010 AC have been discontinued....damn.

Odd... their website shows the RS and the Evo3 available. The others don't show. Those two exhausts haven't launched yet. So there is hope.
