I didn't want to thread jack another member, but I was wondering if anyone has ever ran the touge with their A/C yet?

Nice, I've been to Montreal a few times on business. Where do you do your touge runs at?

Touge is Japanese for "Mountain Pass." Often used as a term by drivers and enthusiasts as spirited driving on the winding roads of the mountain passes.

In Japan, different styles of driving done by FF, FR and MR cars are done in battles on the Touge.

Drift and Grip driving are commonly done on the touge as well as uphill and downhill battling.

I enjoy the spirited driving and being one with the car, battling is just plain dangerous.

If you have never tried driving a mountain pass and experience those corners, you should definitely go out and do it. It's one of the greatest driving experience you will have with your car. Not to mention, it will allow you to learn even more about your car in terms of driving characteristics.

do a rwd conversion, coilovers, and drop 500lbs from the car and tack on 20lbs. of boost and i'll be right there with you buddy. but being one with the car has a long way to go for the altima coupe.

don't underestimate it too much. you can be one with a FWD car. there are different types of driving styles, rwd, awd, and fwd.

in all three you can drive one common satisfying way: to the maximum of your GRIP. doesn't need all that drift action to be fun. concentrating to get the best angle, entry speed, throttle amount while cornering and exit takes lots of skills in all three types. believe me when I say that lots of RWD guys can get pwn by a FWD one. fwd ones are more tactical and skill oriented while rwd one are more the massive hp and torque to balance their average skills...

The touge isn't just for RWD cars, you can still get a feel for the car no matter what the drive layout and the modifications of the car is.

Even in stock form, the Altima Coupe has a pivot point similar to a RWD car meaning that you eliminate that hint of under steer going around the corner with proper braking and accelerating techniques to induce a minor over steer which will make the car neutral and maximize it's speed around the corner.

Hit the mountains in Vancouver this summer...

...kept up with my buddy's tuned STI pretty much the entire way up and down the mountains! As far as I know, I've got every available suspension mod at the moment and I'm pleasantly surprised by how well the coupe handles. That being said, without at least $1500 invested in suspension/tires there's no way I'd want to take the A/C into corners like that.

Honestly, my old Toyota Echo was the best touge car I've had. No one was able to keep up with me in the twisties...unfortunately that try-hard VVTi was a "gutless wonder" on the straights...

A 2ZZ-GE swap would have fix that.

I've been to Vancouver a few times too and heard about some pretty good mountain roads. Which mountain did you go to?

I KNOW A GUY WHO DID THAT!!! Threw a 6spd transmission in there too... Can't remember the times he clocked, but I do know that his Echo was dropped about 3" (mine was only 2.5" haha) and he was running a set of Sportmax 002 with a 0mm offset...they stuck out about 2" from his fenders! T'was incredibly badass!

Alas...1nz-fe FTL...

My buddy who lives there took me up and I just followed obediently! I think it might have been Mt. Stanley? I dunno...what I do know is that we took the bridge through Stanley Park during rush hour to get there!

Nice, I wanted to do that swap to my 01' Corolla until it was wrecked. Now I have the A/C.

The 1ZZ-FE wasn't too bad, but I definitely wanted more kick and the 6 Speed transmission from the 2ZZ-GE

I know what you mean, traffic is horrible around Stanley Park, but traffic is pretty bad in other places of Vancouver as well.

I definitely wish I was able to meet some of you guys during my business trips around Canada.
