Touch Screen Nav/DVD Questions

My screen stopped getting brighter after the 75% mark on the scale. You can see it visibly get brighter till about 75%, then it just keeps the same brightness from there till full scale. I noticed first that it took some warming up before it gets to its full brightness, now it just stays at 75%.

Brought it in to the dealer to have it looked at and first they attempted to replace it. After a few other errors from the replacement units till the final one in the vehicle was installed. Now it was deemed normal behavior. And that the brightness is actually changing and that our human eyes simply cannot notice the difference. I've had the car since new, and definitely did not agree with the assessment. I also calibrate monitors for accuracy as part of my career so I'm fairly sensitive to these things. The resolution in this particular monitor seems alot less than my original one as well. And on top of that, the touch screen is not working.

Are there other monitors that can fit our vehicle that are lower resolution that they might have installed by mistake? Is the touch screen a function of the monitor, or something else in the vehicle? Are there other software, hardware that controls the brightness of the screen?

I haven't seen this come up in my years around here, so you may be a pioneer as far as replacing the screen with a non-OEM unit.

I know that in my 2011 (only a year newer than yours), sometimes when I turn my car on my screen will flicker very lightly (most noticeable when I use the backup cam). It doesn't do this all the time, just sometimes. If I turn the car off and back on, it's fine...or if I turn off the display and back on (hold the night/day button) it'll be fine.

Just to clarify, I am not trying to replace it with non OEM. Want what is supposed to be there, no more no less. Unfortunately, right now, its "less", in more ways than one.

Is your screen touch screen as well?
