Hey guys, so this is where I am at.

I have 2003 350z. Ever since I bought it, the passenger window will go down and inch when the door is opened, however it doesnt roll back up. Then it will go down another inch when opened back up.
It didnt bother me too much as I would just roll the window up after then passenger got out. This went on for about a year.

A couple days ago, the window went down, but not back up. Now its all the way down and wont go up. After research I figured it was the motor. I pulled the door panel off and plugged in the new motor. Nothing! Put the old motor back in and Nothing!

I grabbed my multimeter to check to see if power was going to the motor when the button was pressed. For some random reason, when the multimeter is switched to 12v and I checked the power on the first wire(green ish color), the motor moved in the down position for 2 seconds. And the down button would move the motor even with the car off, just not the up button. I grounded that wire and same thing. Motor works in the down position, when the ground is first touched the motor moves for 2 seconds.

What is going on here? So its clearly not the motor.. So I assume its the switch? I called the dealer and they said its 150 for the switch and there are no returns, special order and it will take two weeks to get. I need my car now and I cant have my window down all the time. Could someone please shine some light on this. I have no idea whats going on.
THanks

Sorry it's a problem that brought you here, but I'm glad you made it.

You've certainly done more troubleshooting than most people that have window issues do. Unfortunately their issues are usually fixed once the motor is switched out and yours haven't been.

I'm unclear, is the switch you're talking about the switch in the armrest to actually raise and lower the window or is it the switch in the door jam that drops the window when you open door and the pops it back up when the door is closed again.

Welcome to NICO! :badger

Thank you! Been a long time lurker but my questions were always answered so I never went the extra step to join.

I found a person in the area parting out his z on CL. Ended up buying both the passenger and drivers switch from him. Plugged those in and now I am in business

Thanks for your help!

You did all the help on your own. If you want, take some notes and some pics of your fix procedure and I'll make and article, post it up and make sure you get all the credit! :)

Now hop on in to the 350Z General area and introduce yourself and your Z!

Your windows have to be "programmed". There is usually a sequence that you have to go through to reset the windows.
Your windows are fine just research how to reset them!
