Sad to lose the I35 but I'm loving the G35 and rear wheel drive.

The G35 comes with some skinny rubber... I've never had a car with 215mm tires. So my G doesn't have much traction on take off. Is anyone putting larger then the 215/55 recommended? I wouldn't mind something a little more low profile. I like how it rides now, losing the sidewall I suppose you'll lose some of the kush ride. What tire sizes would keep my speedo in check?

I was looking at the Yokohama S Drive tires. Anyone have these?

I assume you have 17" rims on it? For wider, most people are swapping up to the 18" or 19" rims or going aftermarket all together.

You should have no problem with 225 width tires tho and possibly even go for 235 altho I don't have the rim width in front of me to validate.

Yeah I have the stock 17" wheels. I think they're either 17x7. I wouldn't mind upgrading to 18" wheels but anything bigger then that I'm going to be sacrificing ride comfort and expensive tires.

I'm not sure what 225/XX series tires equals the 215/55 tires as far as diameter is concerned. Not sure that 225 would make much difference in traction to 215 anyhow. The tires I have now are pretty bald maybe new rubber would make a big difference.

Welcome! I have the same 2004 G 35 sedan, the original wheels are 7", I got a set o "take offs" from a 2007/08 sedan they are 7.5"and look great, then installed 235/50/17 Toyo proxes, you will not change ride comfort and your car will look great. The tire size calculator at: http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asphelped me a lot in size selection, go for it!

A lot of people with the sedan have upgraded to 245's all around, but you will need bigger rims.

RIght now I'm running 225/55/17 with my 17"stock rims.

Yea, i have decent size tires for my '04. check my signature for the sizes Only mod i did for them was the fenders rolled and lowered my car with eibach springs/coilovers. also, im having no problems with rubs on the front control arms or suspension.
