I need help findin out the total timing for the KA24E. I know base is @15 degrees btdc. Im wondering bout what the FSM says for a particular rpm. right now im set at 34 degrees @2600 and the car is bottled up as far as acceleration goes. Where exactly is it supposed to be?????? im trying to determine if the advance curve is off.

34 degrees [real advance is a lot] my guess is 22-23 degrees total at the torque peak rpm increasing to 25-27 at HP peak rpm no more than 29 at redline rpm.........this is for WOT full load and 93 octane fuel...................lots of this depends on the true AF 11 or 12 at HP peak rpm.........the leaner the less advance you can stand at WOT..................vs 2400 cruise of 38-40 degrees small Trottle opening.

i'll give it a shot. but what about values for 87 and 89 octane? Will 22 and 23 degrees be alright?

I tried it and it wasnt good. when i set timing to base of 15 degrees and reved to 26-2800 timing was at 32 degrees. is this right or is something shot electronically? I noticed that on coasting the engine lacks the gradual decline in timing. so what am i missing?

Are you measuring it loaded on the highway with a Consult or timing light sitting still.?

Unloaded timing is very different from driving.

Sitting still tells you nothing other than setting the initial timing!

My number were for WOT full load-- reving in neutral will increase some but it is meaningless as to the value as the look up tables are a function of TPS and MAF voltage vs RPM

A Consult I is $2500 used, usually rented at the Nissan dealer with a technican for an hours labor minimum.

Still don't understand what why you are doing what....the ecu has the maps [tables] for advance designed in and they are within the 10% safety margin created by factory engineers.

You set the intial correct [hot at correct idle speed] and you trust the ecu to calculate correctly unless you get a new programmable ecu for some special application.

i ran into a gremlin. i took it to nissan and they diagnosed it and adjusted something that hit the mark under wot with even a bad timing chain!!!!! after they did the timing chain work and lifters the car was running like **** again. Another mis cal resulted in me stretching the chain 5+ degrees:eek: :angryfire and then i was told that the car was fine and there was no problem with it.(got boned) Ive done all the checks and replacements and nothing panned out(wth). when reviewing what they did ....i noticed it was the timing.
