Guy's stop arguing over stupid crap and cluttering this dudes thread. This place is very hard for someone new to come in and make a post about fixing up their 240 without getting flamed, it needs to stop...real soon. Anyway to Brozif, Your going to want to start with some suspension and brake mod's, maybe a nice set of coilovers and some cross drilled slotted rotors with some hawk pads and SS brake lines, some wheels of choice, alot of people prefer deep dished, larged lipped wheel's, and maybe a stylish aero kit, or a silvia conversion, too agressive of a body kit will just look obnoxious and will make you look like a ricer...worry about power later down the road. just my .02$

To whiterps13 and topless94.( ) wasnt meant for me to sound like a d***. A decent amount of people on NICO probly want the same thing the op wants, but like so many people including myself ive been researching, searching and researching so when people just come on and make a thread saying they want the ultimate 240sx then say they dont have the money it really doesnt make sense to go saying what you want when you have no budget thought of. But my apoligizes and i won't post in this thread again.

There's a new magazine called Project Car, the first issue was just released, half of the board liked it the other half didn't. My copy is sitting on my bed unread so far, it shows how to do an SR swap. Keep your eye on that, it might end well. It's "Real people, real cars, real budgets" or something.A very reputable shop in Florida does RB26DETT swaps for 15grand, so if you want the ultimate machine, be prepared to pay for it.
Yah, I bought Project Car the other day. Its pretty cool.

They took a 1989-90 (Not sure which year, they didnt list) 240sx (Project Stick) and swapped in a SR20DET (S13 RedTop), Circuit Sports Down Pipe and Exhaust, Fujita Air Filter, World Electronics Pro Boost Controller 1, Power Slot Brake Rotors, Hawk Pads and Techna Fit Lines, Tein Type Basic Coilovers, Circuit Sports Bars, DME Cooling Panels, Bumber Holes (For side mount intercooler), Tenzo GF7 Wheels and Falken FK-452, 180 SX Tachometer, Greddy Turbo Timer, Circuit Sports Weighted Shift Knob, and a Pioneer P3800MP Head Unit.

Its pretty kick *** because they have a ton of pictures and pretty much a guide for you to install each of these parts. They dyno it after the installation of each to show you what they are bringing to the table. Every peice they show you retail price and how much they paid for them.

Basically, they show you how to build a nice car on a budget. Which is good for those who don't really know where to start or dont have a wealth of knowledge because it gives a good idea.

In the end they ended up at this:

HP: 197.5Torque: 185.11/4 Mile: 14.3 @ 100.70-60 Braking: 145.46 FT

No AF Adjustment, plus they should of got a Walbro.

Anyways, I enjoyed reading it. I would recommend you pick this up bro as a good starting point.

All in all they spent $7244 with their own labor, retail was listed $8279.

Nice typing all that out, yes. All in all I like the IDEA of it, I still haven't looked over it yet but I did skim. I do like how they have pictures of EVERYTHING.

WOW!! Didn't know that my thread was going to cause such a stir.

For those of you with constructive advice, I thank you. That should help me get on my way. I figured you would be the best to ask about how to get started.

As for the others, that don't have anything constructive to say, I'm sorry that I took you away from looking at p0rn!!

I'm not going to come out and tell anyone exactly how much I have to spend, because then you would criticise me for that. I have plenty enough saved up to modify the whole car. What I was looking for, were places that I could shop for my parts that are credible. I'm looking at buying all of my parts new if possible, but if I can't, then I would like to buy from a credible source.

Anyways thanks to all that actually had something constructive to say.

I like my setup which is more for performance (3+2+4+8=17):

1989 240sx (260whp 13psi boost, 0.97G's on the turns, breaks like a champ, reliable as a daily driver)

Motor & Drivetrain: 1996 SR20det with VVT ( 5qt of Mobil-1 advanced supersyn 10/30wt), S15 Turbo, Greddy divorced chamber dump pipe, 3in down, 3in to 5in Apexi N1 exhaust system, S14 Greddy FMIC (fits with a little mod to the front end), Transmission from a N/A SR20DE car (running Motul 75/90wt gear oil), VLSD from an S14 silvia (5bolt pattern, with Redline 90wt gear oil), huge Fluidyne radiator (dexcool), Exedy clutch, Oil Cooler (made some brackets so its secure), remote oil filter relocation kit (its a must, I use the same Mobil-1 filter as a 1999 volkswagon cabrio because they are huge, extra 1/2 qt), Greddy oil pan, Lightweight pullies, UR underdrive pulley, gatorback belts (nice and quiet), NISMO thermostat, NISMO water pump, Smaller battery (a bit of fabrication work for it to look nice and be safe to get by the FMIC pipe), also a must is gauges for making sure everything remains in spec (oil pressure, oil temp, water temp, boost pressure)

Suspension: sway bars & upgraded links, polyurithane bushings, ball joints, tension rods, tie rods, upper and lower adjustable camber arms, front and rear strut tower bars, KYB shocks, eibach lower springs.

Wheels Tires Breaks: Sportmax 962's 18x9.5 rear, 18x8.5 front with Toyo T1-R tires (very sticky, only good for 15k miles tho), 5lug hub conversion, Polychromalloy front 5 lug, standard 5lug conversion in the rear, front premium vented 300zx rotors, rear S14 5lug slotted rotors in the rear, 30mm Aluminum 300zx calipers, 300zx Master Cylinder, Steel braded break lines, Motul DOT-4 break fluid, high performance cerametallic pads, Motul Dot 4 break fluid.

This in my opinion is the ultimate setup; handles like a Porsche, accelerates like a Corvette, looks like a stock 240 with nice wheels and an exhaust. I did nothing to the exterior but take off the stock rusted wing. The interior is stock, but the only think I plan to do with that is a racing style seat (Recaro).

Feel free to ask me questions; this is the best bang for the buck in terms of performance for the car you have.
