I recently had the dealer do the fuel system, new fuel pump, regulator, controller, injectors, needless to say it cost an arm and a leg and a left nut.

I am focusing on the Active Suspension next. The Dealer tried to talk me into converting to a regular suspension by telling me that with all the o-rings etc, that getting the Active Suspension working is like trying to fill holes in a dike (no jokes please) that keeps coming up with new holes. I am aware that Texasoil does refurbished accumlators and I was going to do that until I had to have the fuel system worked on, now I will have to wait about and accumulate more dimes... The dealer told me that the steering pump was leaking a little as well as a shock absorber or two, (steering pump apparently supplies the pressure to raise car via the short absorbers? What I am trying to find out is how I can get the work done and not pay an arm and a leg and a right nut this time to get the work done I will need done. I am keeping an eye other power steering fluid level and have not seen it really change yet. I want to totally cherry out the car, which includes leather or used seats that are in very good shape, paint, the works. Ill post pictures up soon to see what the experienced folk on this board think, Any advice, direction is sincerely appreciated. Thanks,Dennis

The PS pump is actually 2 separate attached units one for steering and the rear pump for creating active system pressure.

Unfortunately the 4 shocks are not rebuildable for fluid leaks, only the nitrogen pressure dampers that bolt on them are rechargeable.

If finances are a problem you must learn to do it yourself with used parts.

As labor is almost always half the bill and dealers retail pricing is 20-25% more than you can get from Scottsdale via Inet.

Unfortunately an old Q doesn't get less expensive as it ages [inflationany parts increases and labor rates.

When we started in 1995 we charged $49/hour we are now up to $85/hr.Dealers were $70 now $120.

If a basic old Q cost $3k per year add another $750 prorated for an active to maintain as brand new.

Q shocks wear out every 60k yet actives [last longer] were never changed so think of all you saved by not replacing standard shocks.

Did you do all this before or after you found Nico? That is pricey man... the control unit alone must cost over $600 by now.

How much did that cost?
