Most lifts for the D21 trucks consist of longer upper A-arms and a Tbar crank. You can tell if you have aftermarket arms by looking. If they're the stamped steel ones, they're stock. If they're blue, or made of steel tubing, they're lift arms. The upper bumpstops limit lift and you shouldn't crank Tbars to the point where you don't have any down travel left.
Upper Arm lifts (UCA lifts) are sold by several companies and can safely lift the front about 2.5" over stock, and you should be able to clear 32" rubber. Add some significant fender trimming to that and you might squeeze 33s. Add a body lift and 33s are definitely doable, however the performance of the truck will suffer with the larger rubber and a regear of the axles might be in order. Think about this before you leap, as Nissan ring and pinion sets are very expensive.
If you do a lift, you'll also want to address steering, as the stock setup doesn't lend itself to being lifted very well. Parts wear out fast, and you can have tierod failures on the trail. Calmini makes a solid kit for the hardbodies that addresses the issue of the dogbone stock centerlink. Figure on dropping about $500 on the kit though.
The rear lis easy. Add a leafs and longer shackles work well for picking the back up. Stay away from single short AALs and look for AAL systems that use 2 or more additional leaves.
