How the crap did you get a deal like that! You're gona need a clutch, when u get a used engine its best to replace all your wear and tear parts. Flywheel too while your at it. Ummm....Hoses, Fluids, tune up stuff... I would put a turbo timer on it, its only like $80 and its better for it. i think alot of it got listed up above this. You would probly want a new headgasket...belts and all that crap. YOur costs wont be much different than mine. cept your paying for the install...i dont know what all they will do for you. k hope that kinda helped.

for whoever's trying to add it up, I dont' think anybody's mentioned a fuel pump so far, you definatly want one if you plan on turing up boost at all.

i don't consider it useless at all. i think it's alot more important than a turbo timer, and it's only about 30 bucks more. plus how many people do you know who go through the time and effort to put an sr in there car to leave it stock forever? i would highly suggest getting a fuel pump (specifially a walbro) when they buy their engine to anybody who's doing the swap.

WEll solid said he wants to keep it stock. and since he's getting a clip he'll have the pump for the stock SR. ur right Turbo timer doesnt matter/ and untill he is ready to get his fuel system upgraded i doubt he needs a new fuel pump. its nice but not necesary. this post was more about minimal costs not extra's. cause you can find a million posts about adding things on to an SR.

Even if he wan't to keep it stock you will need fuel. Also I believe the SR fuel pump is the same as the KA fuel pump.

Yep, he won't be getting the pump with the front clip - unless he gets the rear clip as well - lol

usually you always go over budget, mine was 10k and now has gone to costing 15k and i now figure another 10k will finish it....nothing like a 30 thousand dollar 1990 240...:( but in the end it will all be worth it...at least i hope so

240_Keyy, which one is the Turbo gasket? When I received my engine I noticed that the left over downpipe wiggled. I traced it back to my turbo being loose. I had to pull back 4 brass like tabs before I could get to the bolts to tighten them. After going through all the hassle I've decided that I had better just replace the gasket. Is this the turbo gasket? Sorry for my ignorance, just want to ask for the right one when I place my order.

BTW, my engine isn't even in and I'm already at $4200 (car not included). Another $1500 and I'll be all set to put the engine in. Obviously it doesn't have to cost this much, but I thought I'd just do the whole thing in one big shot.

Now in all these estimates are you figuring in labor? Or is this an estimate of someone who is going to do it themselves?

Yes... all day long.

aslong as you did the swap right the first time and wont have to fix it every weekend it will be worth it. So much fun to drive.

make sure to get a LSD.. makes it way more fun to drive.

Here is a list of what I think is worth getting for the swap... this is not a *must buy* list for others, but, for me I would definitly get this stuff for a swap.

on top of getting an engine, transmission, harness & ecu.

new clutchnew fuel pumpnew fuel filternew sparkplugsnew ign transistornew heater hosesnew coolant hosesnew beltsnew fluidsnew oil filterintakeintake pipebovbov flangefmicextra fmic pipingegt guageboost guageexhaustdownpipe

then you always have to expect mishaps.. like bent pulleys on TB's, leaking PS pumps, dented oilpan etc... from the engine being ripped out and shipped.

I think it would be very hard to set a cetain price for a swap....

NO were not factoring in labor, its a DIY job. mostly at least. add another Grand for a engine install if ur not gona DIY.

and i wouldnt say ripped out..but yea anything that moves or spins should probly be replaced or at least checked. Ur list man has about $2000 extra on stuff u dont need but will let you boost higher. thats alot more money than i have to spare.

I'm bored and it's raining so I can't work on my car, here is what I did to my car and the costs. The stuff with a * is optional in my opinion. My SR is not even running yet but hopefully all I need to do is adjust the timing, and then I should be good to go.

1990 240sx HB with blown motor $10001998 S13 "type-X" blacktop motor set $2450SMIC with piping $250 (ebay)91-94 PS lines and Gauge Cluster $100 (junkyard)ACT Clutch $279Walbro Fuel Pump $120HT Intake $65HT install Kit (belts, hoses etc.) $100Blitz 3" SS downpipe $150Fluids (oil, transmission oil, coolant, p/s, break)~$50Plugs/oil filter $20Wiring conversion $100bolts that I snapped or lost ~$5Zip ties (absolutley essential) $6.50* 14"electric fan w/adj thermo. $100* Apexi N1 dual $525* Blitz BOV $115* Nismo Motor Mounts $265* Full Nissan s13 Gaskett Kit (I'm paranoid) $300* Upgraded T-28 turbo $750* Greddy Metal 1.2mm head gaskett $200* Blitz Turbo Timer with built in boost gauge $105* Pilot short shifter $100* Z32 breaks ~$400* 17" RIMZ and tires ~$1200* Koni Yellow Suspension/ Eibach PK Springs ~$950

I'm broke now so FMIC and LSD will have to wait a few monthsI'm probably forgetting some stuff, but that should give you an idea of the costs involved. Like I said the stuff with a * is optional, but makes for a good time:) !!

maybe it was less than that, I can't remember it was a while ago. Mo (Blk90S13) just sold his for like $400, but it had an ARC BOV and upgraded hardpipes. Put yours up on e-bay you will get some loot for it guaranteed! and I don't know about a front mount and piping for $100 if you can get me deal like that I'll take 20 of them.

*edit: Now that you got me thinking, I remember it was $200 shipped
