I've been trying to remove the torsion bars from my 4x4 but am coming up short.

I've taken the adjustment bolts completely off, loosened the 3 bolts on the LCA, looked for and never spotted any c-clips and have tried hammering an attached pair of vice grips

Have also soaked both ends of torsion bars with some penetrating lubricant and tried heating the front.

I'd simply remove them but I cannot access the bolt head for the top bolt on the rear side of the LCA
Image
tried hammering vice grips at the front and rear of the torsion bar without much success
Image
No boot was installed and from what I can tell, there is no C-Clip

I searched Nico and several other sites. It seems like this should be a non-issue from the searches, but I am not having any luck. Can anyone please give me some tips?

i feel there is a missing step here somewhere because the c clips should be there in all models if i'm not mistaken.... but of course i might be

its a first year hardbody 4x4 extended cab.

i know the previous owner removed the bars to install a rebuilt transmission/transfer case. With the boots not installed, its easy to think that he neglected to re-install the c-clips as well.

When there are c-clips, they're installed in the groove show in the picture below, not in front directly on the torsion bar, correct?

Used a bfh today at the front and then pounded on the adjuster bracket and they came out. No c-clips after all

Next buy an air hammer buddy. You would be amazed at what you can knock out and take or un-bolt with a good air hammer.

Very much penetrating oil next time. Those were rust sized.

No Nissan Tbars use C-clips.
