I did a search and found that once on the ground (stock wheels) you should tighten them to about 80 lbs. But w/o a torque wrench (after you have gotten used to doing it for a bit) do you guys just tighten far before, just before, or just after the click occurs in the lug? I ask because I may have been too tight or too loose because I am getting an odd squeak after replacing my rear wheels.

With my 4 way I usually just tighten them until they don't move to easy. I know it's well after 80lbs. Check for break dust if you have drums.

240's were never offered with drums, even so there would't be visable brake dust from a drum ;) . 2nd after you torque them down (which i unfortunetly lost my torque wrench so I just use a rachet and get them super tight) you have to retorque them after a few miles. That's if the wheels are alloy.

Yea, but do you ever hear the lug nut click (pretty tight) or do you just go until they feel tight to you?

If it's clicking, you might be hearing the stud turning in the hub. Not a good thing. Even, proper torque helps ensure you don't damage anything AND that you have enough tension in the bolts. The tendency is almost always to overtorque the nuts; not under. At 80 ft-lbs you're placing several thousand pounds of compression on the rim against the hub for EACH lug.
