Hello, Well i am new to the SR forums here. I was going to go KA-t but with everything i need to do (auto --> manual) it will be better, safer, and cheaper, and more hp for me to go SR and get a auto --> manual swap at the same time. So, just one quick question i have for peeps who have driven KA's and SR's.

Is the SR torquey like the KA, can you feel it at lower rpm's? That would be the only drawback for me, Im still going SR but just wanted opinions from others about the low-end torque. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

No its not torquey. But both are good choices in my opinion.

Yeah I wouldn't say it's very torquey before 3000rpm. A low compression 4 cylinder won't be until the turbo starts boosting...

lol, yeah a 2.0 with a what 8.5:1 compression ratio will be anything but torquey, my friend has a boost leak right now so he's not getting any boost to the TB and i think a ford festiva would be a close race

If your comparing the stock KA to the SR the SR doesnt feel anymore laggy than the KA did and its nice to be able to pull up hills in 5th gear @ 55. I remember having to downshift in my KA to maintain speed, it sucked. I had this concern but its everything your KA was and thn some. Now if your talking about the KA-t vs. SR thats a different story...

HAHAHAHA i had a boost leak to and my turbo dident make full boost (13 PSI) untill 5 G it was sooooo bad. but now that its fixed its alot better, although i remember when i had my old 240 it had a little bit more kick at 2000-3000 k but with the turbo spooling now at 3 k thats a different story lol

Thanks guys. Yeah I was just comparing KA to SR, but I am only wanting around 250 hp, so i think a t3 will be perfect for that, and it will spool decently fast. Thanks guys!

Stock S13 T25 can do 250whp. If you don't want to overwork the turbo, you can move to the S15 T28. There is no need to move to a T3 unless you are aiming for 300+ without choking.

I have a HKS T3 turbo and it makes full boost at 3200 RPM and can support 400-430WHP but i dont think they make it any more lol, Old school.

Just stay in second gear, good for 0 to 65 mph and you never have to shift
