you have to get a transmission either way, but if you are doing a swap, and planning to boost the engine, then i suggest that you get the TT transmission (comes in the package of the JDM), the only modification needed to swap the transmission is that you have to get a custom drive shaft (one piece preferebly, it is lighter, and highly recomended for a TT swap, moreover, it recovers lost horsepower, it costs around 350$ canadian in montreal), also swapping the wiring from your current transmission to the TT (1/2 an hour job), and then you are good to go
i have ordered the custom drive shaft from a local shop in montreal, and i have already done the wiring swap (when i thought that the transmissions were a direct swap), but i have returned the wiring to the J's transmission so i can be mobile till i get the drive shaft (in a week or so)
i have looked up transmission prices for the J in my area, it costs around 900 canadian (average price, and not the stock J, but the N/A 300zx, they are the same), i remember that one website from toronto was selling JDM transmissions for really cheap, i think they were not more than 250 canadian, i'll look it up again and get back to you
question for elwesso, why shouldnt we get a transmission that has been sitting for more than six monthes, just curious, because the TT transmission has been sitting for a while, and i have not tested to see if it works yet, could that cause any internal damage, and can i avoid having probelms by some precautionary measures??, i'd appreciate your feedback on this, thank you
