hello i am new to the forum. i love my 99 nissan maxima and last week the check engine soon. i got the diagnostic check and it came to be P0744 which is the torque converter clutch circuit intermittent as in the title lol. i called some local dealers and the estimate to fix it was $2000. is there a better place to go or should i just forget about it because its not worth it for that car. thank you very much

Welcome to NICO.

The code leads me to believe it's something in the transmission valve body. Here is the AT section from the FSM. Code P0744 can be found on page 121. http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/maxima/1999/AT.pdf

I would try to find another valve body at a junk yard and try replacing yours.
