does the "tornado" really work? do any of you have one? can any of you tell me the difference in gas mileage and power?

No, it doesn't work. Swirling the air literally does nothing, since the air swirls when it's pushed into the piston chambers. (Not sure if its the piston chambers, but it has something to do with the pistons)

My friend bought one for his Integra, I threw it in my 240sx just for kicks. It does "NOTHING". Put a "Tornado" sticker on your intake and it'll have the same effect.... "added weight". Yep, nothing is what it does.

Everytime I think about that commercial it makes me laugh... the first time I saw it i thought it was a gag for a comedy show. It really doesn't make sense, and I don't know why they even used that "tornado" effect with the 2 soda bottles. The best part is when they put it on a dyno and magically get some huge hp gain equal to that of putting on GT spec exhaust.

FYI: There's a whole slew of research that goes into intake air charge and there's a pretty good article on some of it in this month's SCC mag. I even learned something from it.

Well I guess it's a rice thing then. My friend with the integra gave it to my other friend who has and loves his Civic DX coupe. He said it gave him a ton of HP and wanted to borrow it for the weekend races we here. lol!!!

I heard that it creates turbulance in the airflow therefor actually decreasing horsepower.

It depends where the turbulence is, if it is turbulance in the piping, that is bad b/c it decreases airflow efficientcy, but if it is turbulence entering the chamber, it is good, b/c the a/f mixture atomizes better.

turbulence in the pipe could be good, if your using it in the form of a VG or Vortex Generator. They use them all the time in jet engine inlets, (esp. in like a 727 where there is an S pipe leading into the compressor inlet).

If you can get the air swirling in a tight spiral it will flow more and faster than if it's just going in on it's own (especially around corners IF you can make the vorted bend). They've been using VG's on the wings of planes for years to lower stall speed's, increase climb performance, and the weight capacity of the AC.

but back to the original topic, that thing sucks.... did you know how they got the 'dyno proven HP'? They did one pull in 4th and after adding it they did it in 3rd....

anyhow, save your money for some new headlight fluid or a muffler bearing......
