sorry if this is a dumb question, but while trying to put my transmission back in, one of the lines on a sensor tore. Heres a pic of the sensor that tore (this is not my transmission, just an example)

can i just shave some of the rubber on both sides and connect them, then cover with electrical tape, or should i buy a new one?

Again, sorry for my newbyness

yes you can. you will be best to solder them togeather and then use shrink wrap. you can get the whole iron and solder kit at radioshack for next to nothing and the shrinkwrap at the same place or harbor freight. soldering is easy to learn and an awesome skill to have.

should do fine if used indoors. 15 watt is one of the smallest you can get. I use a 30 watt for general purpose. If your into quality tools you can get weller irons at home depot i believe. basic guide to soldering - http://www.aaroncake.net/electronics/solder.htm
