Chris, Bro I just changed dealers at the end of the month last month, primarily because the dealer I was at was in escrow and they told us nothing of what was going on and a few of us had put many years of service in there. My master tech bailed and he is moving to tennessee , I gave my notice and another one of my techs gave his notice upon hearing I gave mine, and he had just come to a settled pay wage a month sooner when he gave his notice then and decided to stay. He actually told my boss if I was leavin he was too..lol That sure didnt make things easy for me the following 2 weeks. Any how it left the dealer with only 3 techs and they havent been able to hire anybody as no nissan techs in the area will work for them. Any how my point is bro, you know the old saying "the grass isnt always greener on the other side" That is so incorrect. The place I am at now is a far better dealer toward their techs. case in point. I have been there a meare 2 weeks, I mention to the service manager a class I need that hasent been offered in over 5yrs is coming up in the beginning of february he said he would check into it. I thought "oh yeah I aint gettin in this class". By the end of the next day he told me I was in the first of three classes next month. That amongst a few other things I am thouroughly impressed with this dealer to date. Chris there are other dealers in your area I am sure you have what other dealers want now. I dont know how abundant good nissan techs are in your are but around here they are pretty scarce. I was offered shop foreman at another dealer in the area for a fairly good wage but turned it down as I dont really want a leadership position at this point. What I am saying is go out and get bids on your skill to come to work for people. evalutate each dealer and talk to some of the techs in the shop. When you find one you like and the price is right jump on it. I was stunned at how I got treated when I went around talking to the service managers at dealers in my area , they talk to you with respect and basically welcome you in. The job I took , Before I went through their basic requirements ,drug screening and driving record they gave me a letter asking me if I would come to work for them. with a pay proposal and every thing. I had been talking to dealers including this one for about 3 months before I decided which one to take. Its much different now when you go to look for a job when you have the nissan knowledge and certs under your belt.
Heres a good thing my service manager walked out to my car friday morning when I got to work and started BS'ing with me and during our conversation he told me that I had saved the dealer from 3 problem vehicles becoming buy backs. He told me he passed that on to the owner of the dealer, which explained why the owner had come down to the shop the day before to say hi and tell me he had been hearing good things from every one I had interactions with.
There are good ones out there chris dont loose hope bro. your better then that and you know it!!
