Infrastructure is popping up more and more and recharging an EV is going to get easier and easier. The real hurdle still standing in the way is cost. Great batteries and the electronics to manage them are still pricey and it's probably going to be a few years before the price point become more palatable for people thinking about stepping over.

The only prank is when "ecotards' uphold the electric car as the answer to global warming as they completely ignore or are not aware that if they follow that electric socket to the source chances are it ends at a coal-fired power plant.
