I got mine on eBay and just finished with a nightmare at the shop. If you can, do this on your own. There are enough guides available on the net to step you through every bolt and wire that you shouldn't need a mechanic or even any experience.
One thing I do highly recommend is to do ALL your research and know EXACTLY what you want before you buy. Doing a motor swap isn't something you do on a whim. It's something reserved for people who truly love their vehicles. If this is you, then I am sure you don't want to be stuck with sub-standard parts or service. So, I must reiterate that you do ALL your research first!
As far as buying a motor swap from eBay, GO FOR IT! Just be sure you read the listing VERY carefully and if anything in there is left out or rubs you the wrong way, keep searching because there are TONS available. For the record, you can get a full front clip on eBay for around $2500 +/- a couple hundred. A lot of them even do free shipping.
If you have $5000 or so, go to heavythrottle.com and make sure to call them on the phone so you get the exact kit you need. (It's easy to mistakingly not get the full kit or somehow not get 1 or 2 of the parts you wanted if you use their online ordering).
Good luck!
