anyways. this thread isn't totally pointless. i was wondering, what kind of sheet metal would i need if i were to remove the sunroof and weld in a piece? thickness? would i also need reinforcements for it? does anyone know the exact curvature of the roof of an s13 coupe?

Changed the title so it didn't look too much like a whoring thread. Plus you'll get some useful responses that aren't avian in nature. Hopefully. - Hijacker

3/4" should work well. Lay it flat and put some caulking around it.

Yeah. Re-bar will work well. Just get the JB weld that will stick to the caulking and/or headliner.

I'm pretty sure it's about a 90 degree of curvature.

Like a 20-22 gauge steel with some reinforcement would do. It is wut I used to delete my third brake light.

It would be better pull off the old roof and find a non-sunroof panel to put in it's place.

The other way will leak in no time.

Agreed.

I'll even link you to a tutorial!

As you can see, it's very cheap and easy.

You know what's funny, I'm the second owner, and when I bought my car, I got all the receipts from all the stuff done since 1995. . . And you know what I found? My car has an aftermarket sunroof that was installed at a shop. . . I think the price was around $3000+ Here's pics of the aftermarket sunroof on my car.

Interior picture of the sunroof:

Here's a very old exterior picture of my car with the sunroof visible:

The moral of this post is to show that installing a sunroof will cost you greatly. . . And so will replacing it into a hardtop.

But yeah. . . Why would the 1st owner of my car do that. . . Seriously, what a fruit budder LAWL.

If you're good with a welder and take your time anything is possible. Best bet is to find a wrecked Coupe without a sunroof and no roof damage and take out the entire roof section, or as much as you can so you don't bend the roof and when you are placing it in cut out the amount you need and reweld it very slowly and carefully so you don't warp the metal of the roof.
