hows everybody? as of right now, my car sits with the intake off. timing guides, water pump were recently done by me. basically i bought the car and though it drove good, from New Hampshire to MD., i felt it needed work. also, i made it home basically on two timing guides! rest were broken. Anyway, i found myself repairing previous owners incompetence. anyhow, my question is this. measurements of under plenum hoses? has anyone ever measured them? length,id, and od? i know i have the option of purchasing from dealer for $600. but that isn't the only option. I, we can purchase good quality hose for less than 100 and still good respectable mileage out of them. with the intake off, I will attempt to clean that area of all dirt and oil deposits. change the knock sensors and coolant sensor. I'm also looking to swap over to the 96 fuel rail and injectors. will be getting intake/tb and other metal parts bathed and possibly powder coated. I read that the better sealant for vc's is the grey permatex. is this true? I also read there is a 24hr cure time for the vc's? although it only took me 45 minutes to remove the intake /tb as a unit, I dont want to have to do this again too soon.

Does the after market hose manufacture provide information on the hoses they make such as what they are made of, what they can withstand, How long can they with stand worst environment situations.... Only reason I ask is because you don't want a coolant or fuel hose to break.

Did you buy that red 1991 Q45 with a Stillen spoiler? If so can you post some pictures up?

The Valve Cover RTV does need to cure for 24 Hours (Meaning no starting up the engine any sooner).

Good choice on the 1996 Q45 rails as I have never seen a injector failure on those cars myself. Hopefully someone who has or has worked on a 1996 Q45 with a injector failure will come in and say otherwise.

BTW, i read that to release fuel pressure. i didn't being i started out just changing hoses. can i still release fuel pressure by cranking with intake off? i mean will that cause any problems? or do i need to reinstall the intake for that one procedure?
replacement hoses will be goodyear type with all specs. not that ricer stuff that looks pretty. oem replacement like at pepboys behind the counter stock.

red 91 with stillen spoiler? don't know if the same. will post pics later.

I think you will find it impossible to obtain the majority of the under-plenum hoses from anywhere except the Infiniti dealer, reason being that 90% of them are custom bent {molded} for the unique routing under the plenum.....sure you may be able to get generic straight hoses of similar diameter and try to make them work, but it will be a mess......considering the hoses generally last 100,000 miles or more- not worth trying to save a little coin to jurry-rig such a labor intensive, critical part of the correct functioning of your engine......better to not go out to dinner/bar for a month and save for the correct parts in this case!

I wonder if some fittings could be used in such a way that would allow the use of braided stainless steel lines. Surely they will never see the pressures of the brake system but they will see the temperatures. That would be a end all solution!

I used bulk hoses and reduced clutter whenever possible. Be sure to use Fuel/emissions hoses for the breather hoses, and just take samples to the parts store to match up.

And that's what I'm talking about! There are just as many hoses with no bend and slight bends as there are hoses molded with extreme bends or multiple bends in them. I was only speaking about the minor to straight lengths. Although, you don't know what you may come across at the parts store. I know there are some molded hoses out there exactly Luke the hose needing replaced. Whatever I can't find, ill purchase from infinity. No big deal. But no one should be content and willing to lay down hundreds of dollars for some hoses. Molded or not.

i have a photo of the car, but there seems to be an issue with uploading. anyhow, today i hit jackpot, whoohoo! went to the pick and pull praying for q45 to be there not stripped too bad. what i got was 2! both untouched and 1 a 95 q45t. but get this, i popped the hood on the 95 and the engine bay looks like it just came off the show room floor.plenum looked brand new and all hoses were soft and free of 15 yrs of heat cold cycles. only 2 hoses i had trouble getting off...iac "y"shaped hose due tight space and the coolant cross flow pipe w the 2 bigger hoses. those things were on tight as hell. but no flaking, cracking or breaking of any kind. all fresh. when separating the iac, even the gasket slid off. mine i had to scrape off the plenum bit by bit. this 95 is also a cali car due to the egr temp sensor on the intake. i grabbed all hoses including upper and lower rad hoses, both knock sensors w harness, entire fuel delivery system w harness, spacers and bolts. i didn't even separate the injectors. everything is still hooked up to the rails.now i just need to get new upper gasket kit and test all sensors and injectors. are the specs included in the manual? affordable deals on gaskets or upper gasket kit? anyone in the Maryland(montgomery county) area?
