The HLDI lists the five most-stolen vehicles for the 2001-2003 model years as follows:

Funny thing is the Maxima were mainly stolen because of their HID lights.

I'd like to see some numbers on vehicles stolen based on the production run (i.e, 1 of every 2,342 produced for the 2000 model year). Otherwise it's just another way of saying "most available to steal".

Easy to steal for a joy ride?

The '96 Taurus is easy to steal but has the built-in anti-theft system known as a crappy automatic transmission and ****ed up electricals that will leave the thieves stranded within a few miles of the scene of the crime.

people steal saturns because their plastic body panels are destroyed in collisions, probably.the cars that are most stolen are almost always those that are produced the most (and driven the most, and worn out or crashed the most). shops pay people to steal the cars so they can charge the customer for parts that they get for free. think about it.

High sales volume car. The more sold, the more parts are needed for repairing the ones on the road. Supply and demand economics.

That is why the Camry and Accord also end up on these kinds of lists - they sell a lot of these too!
