I think this will be a good thread guys! What is the fastest speed you guys have taken your S12,13 and possibly S14 CA18DET powered vehicles? Sentras and pulsars responses are welcomed as well! And why did you let go of the gas if you felt as if the car had more! I know that last question is a bit weird, but it helps determine what effect that engine have on you as a person/driver!

I've had 154mph (measured by a GPS system) before I let off, it was still pulling but it was going to hit the limiter but that won't be a problem when I fit an S14 diff to replace my S13 LSD.

Cool Paul! The average person that does not know anything about the CA18DET will not believe you! Your car must've gotten there very easily and I would assume you were around 6200-6800 rpm during this attempt. Fastest I've been (clocked by law enforcement) is 173mph. This was done around the 7000-7300rpm mark and the engine did not sem to want to stop. For me to race the likes of a Z06, 300zxTT, C5 Vette, RX-7, Supra, etc, I seemed to have all the success beating up on them.

I've got 215/40/17 tyres so therolling raduis is a bit smaller than standard, this knocks a few mph off :( so when I get the longer geared diff it should be able to top 170 easily.

Also I'm not sure what revs I was doing because I was racing (and beating :D) a Misubishi Lancer Evo 6 at the time :ylsuper

hey paul what chasis was this in? i know what boost boy has but i was wondering how a silvia feels at these high speeds. my mr2 would stable as hell until like 150 then it got a little shaky. does the silvia feel really in control? also list if you have a coupe or hatch. thanks

My personal record according to the speedo 245kmh (152miles/H) at around 6800rpm.I would say the car was close to it's limit powerwise, but it's almost stock(Fujitsubo catback. K&N, boost @ 12psi,), and it's stable even in stock condition. The next exit was the reason for getting off the gas.

@boost_boy: the cams i bought from you are here, just in time(have to do my TÜV/MOT on tuesday, after that i will throw on all the goodies i collected over the winter). and i will see what my speedo says after the mods!

Don't trust the speedo the picture is of a friends s13 and despite it going past 150mph on the speedo he was clocked at 152mph.

@paul_s13: I don't trust my speedo at these speeds, but i did a calculation(with diff ratio, final gear and tire diameter) and it looks like i can trust my speedo(When my car hits 6800rpm in 5th gear the speed is about 245kmh which are the same numbers that i calculated).

Like Paul_s13 a fair way past the 150mph end of the speedo.....around 7500rpm in 5th....getting quite a lot of wind noise at that speed and the car was still accellerating :)

Same car type as Paul, UK Spec 200SX S13

And besides, this is the only forum that I can pow-wow with other CA18 lovers:cool: . My car is pretty stable at speeds over 150mph, but at that rate of speed you decide to abruptly change angles, it will not be pretty when all is said and done....See below

I believe you, "Mad". There are plent of doubters and haters who don't believe these engines are capable of producing enough power to move a vehicle to those type of speeds. A guy here had a CA16DE powered pulsar sport-back wagon that was doing better than 135mph and he says the car wanted to go faster, but he put a CA18DE in there and I haven't seen him since.

my KA S13 will go 112 till the speed limiter all day long, it likes it, it's not like a car falls apart at those speeds,

but yes, the CA18 haters will tell you it's impossible till you smoke their prissy A$$es :)

hmm I pulled 130mph in 3rd gear on Orange Ave through Orlando one night.... I've gone much faster than that but I must say that was the most balls out experience I've had in my car.

No Rev limiter and 25psi on a big *** turbo.... now I know what an F-15 pilot feels like

130 in 3rd gear tells me that you were around the 8200-8500 rpm mark! Sheesh! I've only taken my 3rd gear to a 115mph!

redline is (was) 9,000 in that motor..... a bit high, but it will keep that turbo in the sweet spot longer :)

When I had my ca16de in my pulsar I had it many time at 200km/h it took few minutes to get there, I installed my ca18det, and on my third gear I get 170km/h, 4th around 220km, and my 5th 257km/h , 16psi on a rebuilt T25 (blown it again now, got my self a t28), 2.5" exhaust, jwt ecu and z32 airflow meter, I am sure I could of get it to go faster but the car was and still out of alignment and it was pretty scary at that speed for a fwd car, that is the reason I had to let go.

Quote »blown it again now, got my self a t28[/quote] You should get yourself a T3/T04 turbo so you don't have to keep blowing the T-deuces. If you plan on constantly running around 15-18psi of boost, the T25 is out of it's efficiency range after 12psi and a T28 is done at about 14-15psi so you'll actually be losing power after about 16psi because the EGT will be increasing. Hey GTR, do you post on nissan forums.com? Go there and tell them you have a Pulsar that does better than 257km/h and they'll hate on you and doubt on you. They'll give you all sorts fancy reasons as to why a CA18DET powered KN13 Pulsar cannot exceed 150mph. I told I got clocked by a cop @173mph and started world war III. Now, I get little private emails saying things like "Hey man, how much does a set up like yours cost":D

Hi boost boy, The reason I got the T28 is because it is a direct fit and I don't want to do any internal mods. I spend enough money already, I also I got a 92 300zx that I crashed last july and now I am almost done repairing it, so money wise it is getting tight. One thought accord to me is to convert my pulsar to a rear wheel drive, which I might do in the near future just for the heck of it.

I only visit 4 nissan sites, this one, nissanexa.com, pulsarnx.ca and twinturbo.net.

I got myself a digital camera, so this summer you will see lots of 1/4 mile videos and top speed "videos" as well, any one that says bad things about the ca18det, I will have the proof to shut them up.

I'll be shooting at 10 second runs this summer as well with my decked out sentra and high 11's in my girl's new sentra! Should be intersting.
