do automatics have a speed limiter? yesterday I drove my car way past 110, like to the tripmeter, and I thought 5 speeds had speed limiters but why dont automatics?

nope, ive heard places that it doesnt and theres a way to get the non-speed limter ability from the auto and put it on a 5 speed

Yep, autos don't have one. Many people swap an auto ECU into a 5-speed to bypass the limiter. In DE engines you can just cut a single wire at the ECU to accomplish this, but in CA cars I believe it throws a code.

so its the whole ecu? i thought it was just part of it, or something else altogther, but now that you mention it i think i do remember it
