That should be pretty easy to figure out, say your going 40mph in 2nd gear at 4k rpm, and 100 mph in 5th at 4k rpm, then considering a 7k redline I would assume a 175 mph top speed considering for every 1k rpm your speed increases 25mph, I don't own a 240 as of yet, but I would assume a little math would work.

no stock S13 will make anywhere near enough to get to 175, heh maybe like 130?

130 sounds more reasonable...would 150 be pushin it??

Well I thought you wanted gear ratio top speed, obviously only a few stock cars can reach 175mph, but 130 sounds about right, I doubt it could make 150 however, as I think ford lightnings can get roughly 145ish, all depends however.

I figured it out one time and I think it is geared for 163 but good luck hitting it.

that goes to show that math and cars can sometimes be waaaaaaaaay off..

on other boards people top out at 115 - 130 depending on what year/ecu/auto/manual they have.

i hear autos dont have fuel cutoff.

Just pin it on redline in 5th and keep going until a cop pulls you over, then you will know how fast you were going. Speedos tend to loose accuracy the faster you go. Unless you have a radar gun.

That is probably true because my car is an auto and has never cut fuel off on me

yeah auto's dont cut off fuel i got mine upto... 140~ish i dotn have a working hud either but it went all the way to 6k rpm..some one with a working hud and auto told me that 6k is around 140..

sohc 110dohc 115s14 120

all that is what the tach is limited to and tend to cut off around 5mph befor limit

auto with digital hud on the other hand will keep going

if you disregard the speed fuel cutoff and tach limiter, you still have to consider the air drag at high speed. It takes more power to move air out of the way the faster you go, that is why there is a huge difference between mechanical top speed and aerodynamic top speed. Stick your hand out the window when going 15 and then 100 to prove this. 180 sounds about right if no air is involved, and the 130-140 range is most likely depending on conditions. I wonder if anyone has even maxed their car on a dyno, this would be an interesting bit of info. lol

You could probably put it up on blocks in a big parking lot with nothing around and tie it down somehow and then see how far it will go in 5th gear, at least if the car somehow comes off the blocks by vibrating like crazy all you have is a crazy launch/burnout through an empty parking lot. You first tho.

lmao...i think the best bet would be to do it on a lift of sorts...maybe? that way the whole car is off the ground...AND take the rear wheels off too lol....

but i think an even better idea is, leave it to the pros and dont try it yourself lol

I think the best idea for you is not to attempt to go that fast simply because in a car of your caliber, it will take you at least 10 minutes to reach anything above 130.

^ People above are right when you have to factor in gearing and aerodynamic drag. The supra boys with around 900 whp are maxing out at about 210 mph out of their 6 spd getrag transmission. Not to mention, your speedo is grossly innacurate at high speeds.

As far as the cops go, they have a little indicator light reading "100+" on their radar guns that will light up if you're going faster than 100. Either way, you're going to jail.

and for the blocks idea.. that's stupid ;)

ive reached the point in the picture above, where the speedo needle touches the trip odometer thingy. however, after going that fast i really feel no need to go faster. i dont understand how you could stand going 210, with everything loking like a big blur...

I'd be able to stand going 210 because of the simple fact that I am traveling at 210 miles an hour.

That way, you have a story to tell your grandchildren.

i think the salt flats in utah would be a great place to try to hit 200. but i remember a video of a civic, i think, that was going 215 there and got caught in strong winds and got lifted off the ground and flipped end over end. not pretty

not too many honda products will do 215, then again, not too many nissan products will either.

however, i have no hate for S2000's... one of those beyotches would do 200+ mph heavily modded.

umm... not to meny honda CARS will ever reach 190+ although almost any motorcycle with a lil bit of work can do 200 easily... as much as i dislike hondas ( i say dislike and not hate any more because the s2k is acualy growing on me...) the CBR 600 RR is a great bike id love to get one some day

LOL! Dude, I think my boss just heard me laugh from the other side of the building! To find theortical top speed (the speed at which you'd hit redline in 5th), get into fifth at 2000 rpm and take note of your speed (for example, 40mph). Then give it some gas to get it up to 3000 rpm. Check your speed at 3000 rpm (say 65mph). Now you should be able to find how much vehicle speed increases in relation to engine speed. In my example, your car would go 25mph faster for every 1000 rpm you pull. Multiply this number by your KA redline (25mph x 6.500) and this is your gear limited top speed, in this case 162.5mph.But we all know very few cars can pull to redline in top gear. The 240sx isnt one of them...
