I was wondering if anyone knows how fast a stock 350Z would be able to go if it wasn’t electronically limited? Would it be able to top its set limit of 155 MPH? Also just out of curiosity what is the fastest you have gone in your Z?

I think a stock Z could hit the limit of 155 mph. I have only gone 120 mph in mine though. Too many twisties where I live no room to hit top speed lol.

I don't know the top speed one would be able to hit unlimited though. I have heard of people making it around the 190 mph area with mods, and I believe that is around where the gearing simply won't let you go faster.

For me it was Somewhere in the 130-140 area. This guy I know thinks hes gone around 170 but he doesn't know exactly. He has a supercharged Z.

I did an indicated 141 on the speedo, completely stockThe car is electronically limited to 155Can it do more than that in stock trim.....maybeTop speed is dependant on gearing, tire size and aero drag/downforce

I've hit an indicated 140 on the back straight of VIR. But I'd would need a lot more real estate to tap the limiter.

136 is my fastest. I probably won't do it again. I don't want to go to jail.

I've hit the 160 mark several times according to the digital read out on the dash. No limiter on my car and I haven't done anything to change anything on the computer, just a CAI. It's nice to have straight empty roads in the middle of nowhere Texas. I know it's not the smartest thing to do, but I've only done it when there is nobody else on the road so if something happens it's just me and the car, but now that I've done it and it's out of my system I don't plan on doing it anymore. The car becomes very light at such speeds, and if I had some wings I'd have a better version of Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang. LOL

Um NO....155 mph is the set limit of the governor. Even without it, the car just doesn't have the aerodynamics, power and gear ratio to go 175mph in stock form.

I read on another forum that about 170mph is the top speed for a stock '08 Z without the governor. I've only had mine up to about 80-85 mph.

It's just hard to imagine a car with a little over 300hp going past 165 mph. Given the shape, weight and profile of the Z.

You are mostly right. The 03-06 350Z is electronically limited to 155. Testing has shown that stock, it can't over come aerodynamic drag and get past 165 or so without limiter. The 370Z allegedly can hit 170/171 with no limiter, although if modified, they are geared to reach 300km, or 186mph.

I've done just about 140. I'd imagine the drag limit of the 2007+ cars is higher than 165 (but have no actual proof yet). My speculation comes from the fact that at the end of 4th gear my unmodded HR is moving the car at 135 mph, so there's two whole gears to go...

not all z's are limited, I don't have a speed limiter on my 07 which shouldn't be any different than the 08's and I haven't put in any kind of programmer or anything all i've done is put on a CAI and a different head unit. I don't know if the dealer did anything to it, but I've had it at the dealer for recall work and warranty work for my driver side window motor that decided to take a crap on me. Maybe I got lucky and they forgot to put one on mine who knows.

The fastest I have gotten my U.S. spec 2003 track model z is 155 mph. I'm currently stationed in Europe and frequent the Autobahn in Germany. I was able to open her up and topped out at 155 mph. Got a little nervous since Germany is not necessarily flat and they have long sweeping curves. Didn't feel like pushing a 100+ mph drift on the autobahn. It definitely felt like she had more to give but i was hitting the rev limiter right when I hit 155. The only mod I have is the nismo s-tune exhaust which shouldn't make much of a difference by itself.

LOL specify... TT's are slow for what they should do but the RS6 RS4 A8 S8 and of course R8 are all faster than your beloved 2008 Z......

Back on topic... I heard awhile ago the Z was limited at 159 and believed it because i know i hit 155-160 one night chasing a G35 down the freeway.... The thing is when i was slowing down i saw 155 when i looked at the dash because at that fast chasing another car i was watching the road the whole time.... On a side note there is no real reason to go that fast - i don't recommend anyone to do it... well unless your Bubba and can catch 140 on a straight at a track then go for it...

that's VERY ignorant. S or RS audi's would smoke any Z. and the new TT can smoke the 370.

The '09 TT's aren't that fast. They can't beat a 350 nor a 370. However, the 09 TTS might. It makes 265HP at the crank and it's 0 to 60 mph has been clocked from 5.2 to 5.4 secs.

How do you know that it doesn't have one? Have you gone past 155?

The new TTRS (2009) has 340hp from a 2,5 litre (which will be easy to quickly mod with a slight tune), and a 0-60 time of 4,5 - 4,8. It'll smoke the 370Z Plus: 4 wheel drive.

If you had read any of the other posts you would have seen that I posted this already. According to the speedo both the digital and analog I have gone 160. So yes I have gone past 155.

Whoa there, no need to go hostile....sorry i missed all that. Did you start slowing down at 160 or go past it?
