What is the top speed you've hit in your Infiniti? I have'nt held down my pedal past 135 mph, because my back tires are worn well. I'm interested if the Q45 or any other Infiniti owners have top there speedometer out.

Driving off a cliff doesn't count.

178 is that stock, or modified? That is super fast! Hope he had 180 mph rated tires.

So far ive only had her up to 140, but thats only because I thought the tires were going to explode if I went any faster

Stock - im sure she had 15-20+ mph left in her

155 mph (well thats what the speedo said) was my top speed. We've been down this road before.....

Stole this from another post. Read the very bottom of the Plaque at the very bottom of the page....

The early 90's Q45 is a former record holder of the Land Speed Authority Class 3, Engine Category 2, Engine Class Size 12, unsupercharged gasoline record at 163 mph by deactivation of the speed limiter according to plaque at the bottom of this page.

http://www.markviii.org/LOD2/bonneville.htm

I thought that I saw this originally on Nico a few years back.

169 mph with a JWT ECU doesn't seem at all farfetched to me one bit.

BTW, the Ford guys did a little more than deactivate the speed limiter on the Mark VIII.

I only had the chance to reach 120mph. At the time I was riding on H rated tires and now the car has winter tires. When I get my new brakes + wheels and tires, I will definitely know the car 's limits. I have a special place I can go that's not a public road.

My car didn't feel like it had a lot in her at 120 the last time I tried. My old e28 535i felt stronger and I could reach 150 with no problems even H rated TRX tires. ( I used that car in this example since you have an e30 and can relate somewhat).

142ish MPH when the transmission shifted from 3-4th gear, with all 4 shocks blown and no front or rear sway bars at all. I was doing some shakedown runs in her trying to see if there was no hesitation or any other kinda problems at very high speeds.

I intend to find my 150MPH speed limiter very soon when I install all my suspension pieces When the transmission shifted around 142MPH she still pulled very good and I suspect 160-165 is its MAX speed with no speed limiter. I would like to see it hit 175 thou.

Remember the engine power ouput will vary 6-10% based on ambient and 3.3% per 1,000 feet above sealevel.........assumming your coolant stays under 200F.

Bonneville is 4200 feet.

137 mph on the 101 at 2:30 am after the gig, about 3 1/2 years ago.

I slowed down because I was coming up on the DeSoto exit which is where the CHP (Cali Hwy Patrol) are located.

It felt pretty solid although I remember a lot of "blurry" $hit flying by.

My heavily modified without the 4.08 saw 150+ on 2 different occassions and felt good and solid. Funny how you car hear the wind rushing against the windshield at those speeds. Also to note is that everytime I have done a high speed WOT run my AC always cut off after some point (like 135+mph). Somebody mentioned that there must be a limit on the accessories rpms so that they don't get over worked when doing such higher speed WOT runs.

Now with the 4.08 I have not seen much above 125mph becuase of the gearing switch lowering my top end capability by 15% so at 125mph is equivalent to 143mph without the 4.08 if that makes any sense. In other words...I can hit 0-78, and 0-125mph a lot faster with my 4.08 because these are my new shift points versus 93 & 135mph with the stock rearend.

I have hit over 150mph indicated in my 1991 Q45 ... back in 1992. With sustained driving at 140 to 145 mph over extended distances.

My tires were in perfect condition and car was running perfectly too ... I would not do it with anything less! Indeed, if you have had a flat repaired on any tires, the speed rating is automatically degraded. Please do not exceed limits that will kill you!

And, the car pulled strongly to that speed. Without problems or hesitation or even the slightest feeling of concern. As an aside, I did not feel as comfortable at near that speed in my 1995 Q45 - much floatier and less steering control. So, I never reached that speed in that car.

For some perspective, the top speed of a factory-stock 1969 Dodge Charger R/T with the 426 Hemi and a 4-speed was around 143 MPH.

Got my dad's old 92' up to 150 and it had plenty left on highway 101 years ago, the 97' hit an easy 130 and was smooth and running, but never took it farther.

wow. Gotta hand it to you guys. I had my 96 911 at 155 and was a little scared. I think I had one of my Qs near 145 and IIRC it was smooth as silk. My current 1996 Qs are all up to spec, new tires, good Tokico shocks, and new suspension parts. One has 78,000 miles the other 81,000. God they are so beautiful. I don't think I have the nerve to try to top end them anymore.

I took it to 147 then lost my nuts, but she was still pulling.. I think cut off is 151 if I remember correctly reading somewhere. I didn't think the Tennessee Highway Patrol would appreciate 147 mph+ lol..
2005 Q45 340 beautiful horses...
