So all that reading, and no high speed posting???? Man... I thought I was getting to the top speed you hit! Now you owe us a run to the speed limiter!!If I'm not mistaken, no M45 or M35 will be able to surpass 150mph due to the speed limiter. That is unless someone actually found a place to get their PCM reflashed. If you did, where and how?Oh, I haven't tried any top speeds really, but on my test drive (alone), I took it up to 110mph. It was so effortlessly, smooth, and quiet at that speed. It had so much more in it too! That was like a nice cruising speed for the car!Bob24 wrote:So, what have you had your M up to? I got real lucky this morning. It was a little before 6am and the traffic was basically non existent on the holiday morning. The highway I was on was dry as a bone and there is so much snow in the median that a cop going the other way would have no way of reaching me.
I was going about 75 or 80 and was ready to punch it when I saw some lights on the shoulder of the road about a half mile ahead. It wasn't a squad cars lights as these were amber and clear.
However, I figured I would stay off the gas until I passed the truck. Well, sitting right behind the truck was a State Trooper. So I made the right call in keeping the speed reasonable.
I am reluctant to really open it up because the penalties for getting caught going triple digits would probably be getting arrested, having the car towed and being charged with reckless driving and maybe losing my license for awhile.
What I find funny though is that speed laws are a bit hypocritical. My degree is law enforcement and I did a four month patrol internship with a local P.D. during college. Back then they had the Caprices with the big V8's. Not a shift would go by where we didn't crack 100 mph several times in responding to calls or chasing down speeders.
State Troopers who are biggest traffic tickets writers out there routinely drive in excess of 100 mph en route to calls or catching up to speeders. It strikes me as odd that they would get so bent out of shape over driving behavior that they display on a daily basis. But, they do.
Even though I am now in the private sector, I still have a lot of law enforcement ties that have helped me evade speeding tickets. However getting out of a ticket for 25 over is a whole lot different than getting out of one for 90 over!
Troopers are now a revenue source for elected officials wary of raising taxes. Not a reputation enhancing burden.Bob24 wrote:I am reluctant to really open it up because the penalties for getting caught going triple digits would probably be getting arrested, having the car towed and being charged with reckless driving and maybe losing my license for awhile.

We may be able to out run law enforcements in our vehicles, but we can't out run their radios!Keep it safe!Bob24 wrote: The highway I was on was dry as a bone and there is so much snow in the median that a cop going the other way would have no way of reaching me.
Oops, indeed!saeedakobiakov wrote:150 slight down hill.couple of patched tires, oops.
Infiniti told me it is governed at 150mph. That's too fast anyways. You would need to go to a closed course track that could handle those speeds to do it really. Though there still are those brave ones who do it on the streets. Be carefull guys!AlbuquerqueM45sport wrote:I had no trouble in getting to 140mph in my 2006 M45 sport. Still pulling, I think I felt a shift at about 130mph, if there is a limiter, it felt a way off still. I've driven up to 151MPH in my Porsche and the Infiniti felt as strong if not stronger. I was getting into traffic and did the wise thing and slowed down. I was west of Flagstaff heading west. I run 19" Michelin Sport AS with 36psi all around.
115mph and you knew you had a nail in your front tire??? Wake up man! Being a worried person or not, how about just being responsible?? You took the chance of hurting yourself, others, and the car.eric313131 wrote:I hit 115 today. An small acura suv or something was coming up quick probably about 95 or so. I was cruising at 75, waited for him to get within about a car length or three and punched. He tried to catch up but he had no chance. I had to take the next exit before I got going to fast. The guy in the suv was crazier than I was when I took the exit he was doing excess 115, and it look like he was still getting after it. But I was slowing down so looks could be deceiving. I didn't want to go any faster because, earlier today I found a large nail in my front tire and it has not been patch yet. I was a littled worried, but you can also worry your life away. I figured what the hell. The M was screaming for more.
Obviously the words "catastrophic tire failure" have no meaning to you.eric313131 wrote:I hit 115 today. ... I didn't want to go any faster because, earlier today I found a large nail in my front tire and it has not been patch yet. I was a littled worried....
Old Michilin Pilots were very loud north of 120, I got some new Yoko AVID A/S and easily hit 140, tires were nice and quiet, but there was a lot of wind noise coming from the windows, even though they were closed all the way.Bob24 wrote:So, what have you had your M up to?
