I got a Bulldog tuner and I raised the Governor. I found an issue. When I got to about 118 my RPMs dropped and I couldn't accelerate much more I got to 122. Normally the governor completely stops you, that is why I am confused.

You already went past the 2.5's speed limiter by 9mph so how much more do you want obviously driving unsafely on a dark public road and simultaneously taking a video? Removing the governor doesn't magically give the car any more power bud, you already maxed it out.

Not the safest thing, but I did it while there are no cars in front of me and the road is flat. I've seen the 2.5 in videos do 140 but it takes like 2 minutes. My car did not max out because the RPM's dropped as you can see at :23 in the video. I did not let off though. I was just curious if anyone knew why this happened.

It's a CVT in D mode. It does whatever the heck it wants with the RPMs. Pretty sure that even if you had it in sport mode it would cut out to protect the CVT. Also, many threads here discussing whether or not the Bullydog actually does what it says it can or if it's a $350 paperweight.

I beleive it did that because the car wasn't sure whether or not to down shift or up shift because of the bullysof thing but it's just a theory.......try it again (on a closed track) in m mode but I think mrod is right the 2.5 isn't a power house at that point the car probably kicked in its "my owner is crazy function..... If you noticed when in cvt once u push the car to the point where it up shifts by itself the thing won't let u downshift again for awhile Im talking even I'd u slow down about 25-30 mphs the computer that controls the cvt isn't having it

The BD tuner does what it's suppose to do but it can't override the CVT's satiety measures.

It was the CVT adjusting the gear ratio again. You passed the HP curve for the 2.5 and the transmission was actually trying to help you get back into it. 122mph is pretty much the limit for a 2.5 altima and the cvt. The engine is only rated in the current car at 185hp, in your car it's 175. The engine management and trans management software are designed to keep them in sync under heavy load at the HP peak, if it passes that it'll develop a new gear ratio to achieve that sync again.

Yea that's exactly what I meant by the "my owner is crazy" function the cvt is constantly recreating gears its seems

It is too much speed, which is normally not allowed by the traffic police on a public road. It may be a cause of any accidents.
